The Plot and Hook was a small tavern set just off the Far Sands Market, assembled from decommissioned ship parts, cracked oaken lagers, old rigging, and stacked barrels. Its walls were curved planks once meant for hulls, its beams repurposed masts, and its furniture cobbled together from whatever could be made to hold weight. Despite this, the tavern was lovingly maintained, and its mismatched materials were arranged with enough care that the whole appeared more deliberate and welcoming than its origins suggested. It was a favored gathering place for locals, loud and crowded in the evenings, but nearly silent during the day when its regulars were occupied with market work.

The tavern had been built ten years earlier by Hollyhock Barrowes, a Crossborn Gnome-Halfling and former convict of Bleak End. She stood out in largely Human Farrozandmar, but chose to stay regardless, finding the town’s roughness more honest than its alternatives. Using stolen money she never admitted to possessing, Hollyhock constructed the Plot and Hook and ran it herself.
