The Alabaster Palace, often called the "Palace Helefir" or the "Port-Lord's Keep", stood at the highest terrace of Upper Cliffsunder, overlooking the Grandport, the lower city, and the Splitmaw Strait beyond. Constructed of pale marble and faced with broad steps and columned galleries, it dominated the skyline as both residence and seat of power. Built directly into the cliffside, the entire Keep was comprised of buildings with spires and domed rooftops, connected by bridges and marble stairways that clung to the cliffside. The buildings were built around a natural spring pool, which friends of the Helefir family were allowed to use to relax or play.
The Alabaster Palace was heavily warded with Spellcraft, more so than any other structure in the city. Arcane measures woven into the stone revealed invisible creatures within its grounds and triggered alarms at the slightest breach of restricted chambers. These wards were layered, designed to persist even if individual enchantments failed, and many were tied directly to the keep's foundations. Servants, guards, and visiting officials moved through a system of marked routes and attuned tokens to avoid setting off defenses.
From the high balconies, the Port-Lord surveyed both their palace below as well as the movement of ships, the flow of goods, and the city further beneath. The layout favored wide courtyards, enclosed gardens, and elevated halls that caught the sea wind, with sightlines deliberately arranged to command views of every major harbor along Alabaster Bay. Its scale and position made it a constant reminder of Helefir authority, visible from nearly every district of Cliffsunder.
