Threshold is a fortified town standing on the east road from the 36 Crossroads Totem of the Snow Lion Road, on the Rasal Flow. This is where stone roads give way to river travel and uncertain trails. It marks the practical edge of authority in this region of Reisa. Beyond it, law thins, maps grow unreliable, and danger becomes a matter of judgment rather than decree.

Under Legate Ilian Zoric's rule, Threshold is orderly and restrictive:

  • Weapons are confiscated or peace-bonded on entry

  • Spellcasting is forbidden without explicit sanction

  • Heavy armor is discouraged or banned unless worn by knights

  • Disputes are handled by clerical courts, swiftly and without spectacle

Threshold exists to watch, record, and control movement.

Stone walls and timber palisades enclose the town proper. A guarded gate regulates traffic along the road, while docks and ferries manage access to the Rasal Flow, the great river that runs all the way back toward Kalorand. Travelers entering Threshold are questioned, noted, and sometimes delayed. Weapons are permitted, but not without scrutiny.

Inside the walls, Threshold feels busy rather than grand.

Merchants, river folk, messengers, mercenaries, pilgrims, and officials all pass through. Warehouses line the riverward side. Inns cater to caravans and boat crews. A small garrison keeps order, not with enthusiasm, but with routine efficiency.

Threshold is where rumors solidify into reports.

It is commonly said that beyond the Rasal Flow lie goblin lands and worse. Old ruins are spoken of in hushed tones, especially the Ruins of Śītaka, which many claim predate any kingdom now standing. Farther still, beyond routes most people refuse to discuss, lies the Lost Valley of Bhūtaka, a place mentioned only by those who have lost companions or sanity.

For adventurers, Threshold is not a destination. It is a decision point.

Here, supplies can still be bought, guides still hired, and questions still answered. Beyond Threshold, you travel by choice alone.
