R04 - Similarities

Monday; 4th of Muvay, 1024 (evening)

We split up. Aggma and I are off to the bells about this orb. Christopher left before Oris even started talking about the plan. Not sure what Oris and Sett are up to. We’ll reconvene tomorrow morning at the orphanage.

I talked to Aggma briefly. Picked her brain on how she felt about the two harengon. I find them both similar in different ways. A bit overbearing. Talk over others. Different attitudes and intentions but similar thing. She didn’t quite share my opinion, so maybe it’s me overthinking. Prodded me about my opinions on her and Sett. Told her straight: the two rabbitfolk have been taking up a lot of my attention so I haven’t formed one yet.

We went to the Bells and showed the orb to Martha who took us to our office. Asked us where we got it. Told her. She didn’t seem to immediately recognize it. Called the things we fought “Whisperers.” I’ll tuck that away.

She asked after the strange colourless place. Our explanation didn’t really do it for her so she wanted to peer into our minds. I asked Aggma if she was willing, which she agreed to. Don’t want someone rifling through my mind. Martha asked about focusing on Oris. Whispered, quietly. But I heard.

After Aggma asked if we should confront that issue. Best if we just keep our eyes peeled, I said. If it gets worse then we’ll deal with it. Just keep him safe for now. She agreed.

Alyna sold us the sticky bombs. 10 gold for 3. Maybe it’ll brighten Oris up.

We met up again at the orphanage. Aggma showed Oris the bombs we purchased. He seemed to light up. I asked if Martha was bothering him. He said it might be okay, she means well. Told him if she does bother him doesn’t matter her intentions. If she doesn’t back off - let us know.

Noticed Sett was a little bruised. Must have gotten into a scuffle. He shrugged it off when I silently pointed it out.

Lady Trudgeon let us in, she looked exhausted. She sat us down and talked to us about what her plans for the big day are. Christopher brought up an issue at hand: Harris’ fundraiser being competition. He seemed to come up with a plan. Writing thank you letters to the duke for coming to her fundraiser. Social pressure. I think. I am not one for politics. I hope it doesn’t backfire in any way.

I don’t trust Harris to be rational in response. He’s like a bully of a toddler in a man’s body.

Oris really wanted to scope out the building. So we went there to get an eye on it. He went on a long tangent to Karlan - one of Harris’ closest workers - on ways he felt the fundraiser could be improved. These are either horrible ideas or Oris has gone and sabotaged us himself by giving him good ideas. I can’t say I know anything about fundraisers, so I couldn’t say.

Except it seemed like it led to the conclusion of needing to push the fundraiser back. Doesn’t seem like Karlan took the bait, but there’s a chance. Depends on Harris, though.

Oris mentioned he wanted to have animals carpet bomb the place with the sticky grenades we got. Sett brought up he might have a better plan, but wouldn’t explain beyond “I know a guy and he owes me a favour”. Okay. Sure. We’ll follow and see what he has up his sleeve.

Turns out he had pull with the town guard and asked  them to not allow Harris to use their garrison. For a hundred gold over the next couple weeks. And my help training the guards in spotting techniques... he’ll pull it. Last second.

On the way out Margaret showed up with her daughter - the one I look like. Introduced us to each other. Her daughter said they had to visit her father for the event.

Turns out Harris is her father. This raises... a lot. Most of it anger.

He’s pulling this event to try and impress her. She hates him. He’s basically a shitty absentee father.

I see the similarity now.

I need to talk to him. Or yell.
