Whatever of Muvay
It was a long walk back to town. Nearing witching hour. Christopher wrote in cant that ‘I broke my promise’. I may not vocalize this to the others, as this is between him and I, but between myself and my journal: fuck the promise and fuck his irritation to my breaking it.
I don’t give a rats ass about his ‘get rich or die trying’ attitude. I don’t give a shit about whatever it was he was trying to do, he hardly communicated it properly. If he thinks I betrayed him he sure as shit doesn’t know the first thing about loyalty. Sometimes you gotta break a promise to be a good friend. If he doesn’t agree, then I guess this is where we’ll part ways. At least he’ll be drawing breath to do so.
We’ll deal with it tomorrow.
Whatever+1 of Muvay
((Oris’ had a fever when she woke up. He went to go get medicine and was sent around because tis flu season. Went on a hunt for a cure.))
Oris came to my house saying his sister was poisoned. We went off and my immediate suspicion was to sabotage the hunt. Sent him to fetch Sett and check on the other judges. He said he’ll send a bird if they’re poisoned. Blue if duke, red if Brandon, purple if both.
In Gina’s room Aggma told me it was would have taken a long time to kill. There seemed to be no foul play to break in, but a plate of cookie crumbs. I tested it and they’re definitely poisoned. In the kitchen there was a bag of cookies – one of which was poisoned baked by another hand. Margaret’s.
To get to the root of the matter we went to her house and Aggma asked outright why she poisoned the cookies. I looked into them and she had nothing tainted. No bottles of poison, no tainted ingredients. The cookies themselves were also fine and were consistent with the non-poisoned ones in the bag at the tavern.
Margaret said that she delivered to was Kai’s Teashop, and at 7pm last night she delivered to the inn. We decided to go to the Angry Fist to talk to Naomi to see if she knew anything about the poisoning. She said hunter’s lodge were baking cookies for the winner of the contest. Oris wanted to hit me with an ‘I told you so’ because his first idea was that Harris was responsible. With no evidence until now. Which is why I refuse this as an appropriate ‘I told you so’ (though, Harris being responsible is true 9 out of 10 times).
I snuck into the kitchen, putting one of Harris’ goons asleep (can’t remember his name), got a bottle of poison, a recipe, and a note of what to do with it. Pretty incriminating. Oris asked how we would prove it’s theirs. He absolutely has a point but unless we get a confession, I’m not sure.
Oris brought up that perhaps he and his sister were the targets because Harris infamously hates him and Gina. It’s not a terrible theory. He wanted to go talk to the goon, so we went back to the lodge. Oris lured him out while I watched from afar.
Oris put on an act that we had no idea they caused this. That he came looking for medicine to help Gina in a desperate play because nobody else could. He managed to make whatshisname crack and admit to the poisoning claiming it was only to make Oris and his sister feel unwell for the hunt, not kill her. Maybe they underestimated how gluttonous the two are.
Except three drops... No. This poison was potent enough. That wouldn’t put a man on a toilet, that would put them in the grave. It was attempted murder. Brought it o Lestran, he said it was about time Harris was dealt with.
Now we get to focus on getting Christopher back, and the hunt.
