Khazak Hold is the buried iron heart of Hollow King Claim, a dwarven stronghold dug into the dry desert earth beneath the quarries, mine works, and labour camps of the claim. From the surface, it appears as a cluster of fortified entrances, watch posts, ventilation stacks, and stonework half-swallowed by dust and industry, but below lies a compact, hard-built hold of barracks, storehouses, command rooms, workshops, and a few stern halls of authority cut into the rock. It is not some ancient dwarf-kingdom of endless vaults and grand caverns, but for an Iron Gospel Railways outpost it is imposing, well-defended, and unmistakably built to last. The railway itself lies only a short walk away rather than running directly into the hold, so ore, supplies, and prisoners are marched between track and gate beneath the watch of armed guards.
Officially, Khazak Hold serves as the administrative and industrial centre of the largest territory the Iron Gospel controls in the region. In practice, it has become the personal domain of Overseer Borrik Valecairn, who rules it less like a company officer and more like a petty lord enthroned beneath stone. Company law is bent into personal decree, guards act more like household enforcers than hired men, and every part of the hold reflects Borrik’s need for order, permanence, and control. From these underground halls he exerts authority over all of Hollow King Claim — its mines, quarries, camps, depots, and work gangs — making Khazak Hold feel less like a corporate station and more like the seat of a harsh little fiefdom carved into the desert.
