Cas 'The Bloody Iron' Irons

Blacksmith and Artificer
NPC, Artificer

Cas grew up at the orphanage in Shoremond, Rivermond. There she quickly taught herself not to back down and things often turn to violence. Early on she proved to be exceptionally good at throwing punches but also strong enough to help out with local businesses. She helped out at the local blacksmith where she learned the basics of how to forge, however she often got into trouble experimenting or causing scenes with angry costumers and spent many days locked away because of it. While being locked up she kept herself fit and focused. During her teenage years she had run-ins with the local thugs of Shoremond, she ran errands for some and sometimes fought for coin.

One day she was given a letter from a mysterious benefactor. It was an invitation to the Arcane Academy in Greenfield, not sure what to make of it she packed her things and made her way there. It was a complete change of scenory for her, both the city and the people. The Academy amazed her but she still did not understand why she was there, she met with the local Head masters who made her feel welcomed. Taking classes wasn't new to her but in the manner they did it at the Academy was not her style. She skipped classes and explored the halls. At the Academy she met Varis Brightheart and they became as close to a friend as she have ever had.

She did not finish all her terms at the Academy but she took with her new knowledge of being an artificer. She planned on using it to help out more at the forge back home. However that plan took a drastic turn when the blacksmith passed away and the forge closed. Cas wanted to buy the forge and run it herself however she lacked the funds. She took jobs around Shoremond in an attempt to raise money for the forge but eventually she fell into the hands of the local crime boss Ryman the Shark who did offer to buy the forge for her in return she would work for him. He would take a large cut while letting his men have free work done on their equipment. She could not say no to the offer and opened the forge. Majority of her customers in Shoremond were Ryman's thugs so her forge did not bring in much profits. Most went to her landlord and rest went back into the forge.

Cas eventually had to take side jobs which involved her taking part in boxing matches. Something she knew she could earn a decent amount from, and she did but it was not meant to last. Everytime she managed to gain a protif she put it into a project of hers. A construct she built, it was a walking furnace in the shape of a man. After many failed attempts at making it work mechanically she was ready to give up, wouldn't it be for a strange merchant she encountered outside of Shoremond. On that sunny day she saw a thing she knew right away she needed to complete her construct, the merchant told her his price to which she simply did not have and became desperate. The merchant had a good day and offered to give her the item, if she could make his companion go to sleep.

A strange request, she accepted thinking she would have to sing or something before realizing the companion was a large cyclops who was in a bad mood. Unsure what to do she tried to sing a lullaby which did not work at all. She tried various things for the next half hour, eventually the merchant was ready to tell her to let it go. Cas then turned to the one thing she did know, she gave it some thought before suddenly throwing a right hook punch onto the cyclop's cheek. For a split second it appeared she did nothing but then suddenly the cyclop falls backwards and is knocked out cold. The merchant said she cheated to which she pointed out that the cyclop was snooring and was in fact, sleeping. He could not argue against that fact and stood by his word.

She walked home with a sealed elemental cube. Within it was an imprisoned fire elemental, something she thought she knew how to bend to her will but after several attempts under the next couple of days she could not figure out how to bind the elemental within her construct. It took her months before she cracked it without burning down her home and Shoremond in the process. However she has kept the Construct a secret and keeps it in her home. She calls it Scorn. She also hired a tinkerer for her Forge, a young half-elf woman called Zoe Mirage. She later became Cas's roommate.

After the death of Ryman and her debt removed, she has begun to run her forge fulltime to help out with the new city guard and the locals who were oppressed by Ryman's gang. She has become a bit of a celebrity among the locals for standing up for the locals whenever rude folk passes through Shoremond. Even got on the good side of the Lord of Shoremond, James Holmes.
