Vaylin Moss

This character is dead.
The Wandering Ranger

Vaylin Moss, a skilled and enigmatic human ranger, traverses the vast landscapes as a determined bounty hunter. Her path intertwines with that of Nathaniel, a half-elf bounty hunter, and Twelvecut, a cunning ratfolk assassin, forging an unlikely trio bound by their shared pursuit of elusive targets. As they embark on their daring escapades, Vaylin's unique set of skills and equipment set her apart.

In Vaylin's hands rests a weapon that defies convention—a compact bow intricately adorned with cogs and mechanisms, allowing for a range of configurations. This remarkable invention made by Stefan Riverton grants her an edge in combat, enabling her to accomplish feats that would otherwise be deemed impossible with a conventional bow. Its versatility empowers Vaylin to adapt swiftly to various situations, from precision long-range shots to rapid-fire barrages, and everything in between. Her mastery over this ingenious tool has earned her a reputation as a formidable archer among her peers.

While Vaylin may not readily open herself up to others, her time spent alongside Nathaniel and Twelvecut has slowly revealed a different side of her persona. The bond forged through their shared experiences has kindled a sense of camaraderie and trust, allowing her companions to witness glimpses of her vulnerability and reveal her unwavering loyalty. Despite her reserved nature, Vaylin values the strength that lies within their partnership and the unspoken understanding that binds their trio together.

As they navigate treacherous terrains and confront a diverse array of quarry, Vaylin's sharp eyes and honed tracking skills guide the group through dense forests, treacherous mountains, and bustling cities alike. Her proficiency in survival and wilderness lore, coupled with her keen perception, make her an invaluable asset in their pursuit of bounties. Vaylin's unwavering determination and resourcefulness in the face of adversity have earned her a reputation as a tenacious and skilled hunter.

Though Vaylin remains guarded and introspective, her evolving dynamic with Nathaniel and Twelvecut illustrates the profound impact that companionship and shared purpose can have on an individual's journey. As they continue to traverse the untamed lands, Vaylin's commitment to her craft and her unwavering loyalty to her newfound allies will be tested. Together, they form a formidable trio, united by their shared pursuit of justice and the thrill of the hunt, forever leaving their mark on the realm of bounty hunting and adventure.

The Death of Vaylin Moss

As the adventuring party delved into the depths of the River Mine near Oakheart, Vaylin and Amelia chose to wait outside, expecting the others to return before nightfall. Vaylin, still recovering after being rescued from the belly of a dragon and revived by Rayenne, was too weak to wield her bow or defend herself. During this vulnerable time, they were ambushed by a group of shadowy figures.

Amelia, in a desperate bid to protect them, transformed into her beast form and initially managed to halt the attackers. However, the assailants were prepared and numerous, using cunning tricks to subdue her. Both Vaylin and Amelia were shackled and endured a grueling six-day journey across and beneath Rivermond, moving only under the cover of night. Their captors treated them cruelly, leaving them on the brink of starvation and exhaustion.

As they neared the edge of Highmarsh, Amelia seized a moment of opportunity. She broke free of her restraints and, transforming once more, unleashed a fury upon their captors. In her berserk state, Amelia fought with savage intensity, but amidst the chaos, she inadvertently struck down Vaylin. The realization did not come to her until later, as Amelia blacked out from exhaustion and rage, leaving a desolate scene behind with no survivors.
