She was raised by an adoptive family after her biological father and mother died when she was 6 years old on their way home from the Capital of Rivermond. Their carriage was attacked by something big and dangerous, it was never discovered what might have caused it as there were little left. All she knows of her biological parents is that they were both skilled alchemists and healers.
Her primary guardian now is a High elf called Alenia Ravinor. She was a friend of Kali's mother and has raised Kali well. She managed to get Kali educated in Windelcrest. Their relationship is friendly despite Alenia's tendency of being strict on getting results. She married a man called Hal Brightheart 15 years ago and he has tried to be a father figure but is often deep in his studies. He knew Kali's father long ago but he never talks about it. Kali sees him as an olf man, he is currently 170 years old however he is a Brightheart so his apparence is that of an 50 year old. Kali has been made aware that Hal has a son but he rarely acknowledges him and if brought up it annoys him.
Kali had a privileged upbringing before and after she got adopted. Despite not having status she is still granted things for her studies by her adopted parents and friends of them. She grew up in a fine manor outside of Windelcrest, enjoys fine food on a regular basis and finds comfort in the safety at home. City guard knows of Kali well enough not to cause any issues but also keps her from any real harm. Early on when she arrived at Windelcrest some local kids bullied her for the loss of her parents, Kali had few friends. Her mother taught her to get through it. Later in her teens she gained friends through her education and friends of the family. And after getting an education, she were either asked to help out with the City Guard where she learned to be more hands on with tools, or she asked to help out in Court as a cupbearer where she learned more of the ins and outs of the political side of things.
She had a brief entangledment with the party known as the Travellers.
