Long ago, when Rhaaga was still worshipped as the Mother of Night, her followers sought her protection from the terrors that lurked in the darkness. Despite being seen as a dark and malevolent figure by many, her followers remained loyal, and her influence grew stronger. However, the God King Horus, who believed that she was a threat, began a brutal campaign to root out those who held faith in Rhaaga. The conflict between the faithful of Horus and the Rhaaga loyalists was fierce, but in the end, Horus emerged victorious. He defeated Rhaaga herself, banishing her deep within the core of the mortal world of Midora, far deeper than she had ever been before. For centuries, Rhaaga lay in wait for her moment to return, and her demonic children began to claw their way out of the Abyss to claim the outer spheres for their own ambitions. Each demon sought to gain enough power to burst out into the mortal realm and wreak havoc. As mortals dug deeper into the earth, they unwittingly stumbled upon the foul demons lurking in the Abyss, causing them to retreat in fear. Some brave explorers sought knowledge and treasure deep within ancient ruins and dark tunnels, knowingly or unknowingly following the whispers of something evil in the Abyss. Despite the dangers, some mortals attempted to map the first and second spheres. The mortals who dared to venture into the spheres were brave, but they were also foolish, for they did not fully understand the horrors that awaited them. As they descended into the first sphere, they found themselves in a realm of darkness and chaos, where the chambers was choked with black smoke and the ground trembled with each step. It was said that the very air was hallucinogenic, and that breathing it could cause a person's mind to become twisted. As they pushed deeper into the sphere, the mortals encountered the demons that served the various demon deities. Some of these demons were small and insignificant, little more than twisted and gnarled imps that skittered about on all fours. Others were towering monstrosities, with teeth like swords and skin as hard as stone. All of them were cruel and merciless, and they attacked the mortals on sight. Despite the odds against them, some of the mortals managed to survive long enough to make their way into the second sphere. Here they found a realm of deceiving hallways and pillars with alien carvings on them which would later on become known as the abyssal language. Here rivers of lava flowed like blood and the very ground seemed to writhe and twist beneath their feet. The demons here were even more fearsome than those in the first sphere, with wings like bat and tails like scorpions. They could could kill with their shrieks and weave shadows at will, and their claws could rend steel as easily as flesh. The mortals who attempted to map these spheres soon found that they were in over their heads. They were not prepared for the horrors that awaited them, and many of them lost their lives in the attempt. Those who returned often did so broken and shattered, their minds filled with nightmares and their spirits crushed by the weight of what they had seen. And so, the Abyssal realm remained largely unexplored by mortals. There were conflicting maps and drawings, rumors and legends, but no one really knew what lay beyond the borders of the first two spheres. The secrets and terrors of the Abyssal realm remained unknown to most, and those who did dare to venture into its depths did so at their own peril. Modern ExpeditionsThe Jade Academy within the Nagan Empire is a secretive organization that is dedicated to exploring and mapping the Abyssal realm. It is believed that the Jade Academy was founded by a group of adventurers who survived their journeys into the first and second spheres, and returned with valuable knowledge about the demons and the terrain of the Abyss. Since then, the Jade Academy has grown in size and influence, with scholars, mages, and skilled adventurers joining its ranks in the hopes of uncovering the secrets of the Abyss. The Jade Academy operates from a hidden location deep within the heart of the Nagan Empire. Its members are sworn to secrecy, and their activities are closely monitored by the Empire's ruling courts. Despite the risks, the Jade Academy continues to send expeditions into the Abyssal realm, seeking to discover new information about the demons and the treasures that lie within. Some members of the Jade Academy believe that they may even be able to reach the hidden libraries of the second sphere, and uncover knowledge that has been lost to the world for centuries. The Gilded Guilds of the Vache Kingdom, on the other hand, are focused on the dangerous gemstone known as Black Cobalt. This rare mineral can only be found on the edges of the first sphere, where some demons are at their most active and dangerous. Despite the risks, the Guilds have established mines in these regions, and use skilled workers to extract the precious Black Cobalt from the earth. The Gilded Guilds of the Vache Kingdom are powerful and wealthy, and they have access to the latest technology and magic to ensure the safety of their workers. However, accidents and demon attacks are common, and many workers are injured or killed in the process. Despite this, the Guilds continue to mine the Black Cobalt, believing that the rewards are worth the risks. The gemstone is highly prized for its crafting and arcane properties, and it is said to be able to enhance necrotic powers of mages and sorcerers. | ![]() The Spheres of InfluenceThe first sphere of the Abyss is a place of chaos and upheaval, with constantly shifting landscapes and unpredictable weather patterns.
