Talison Redmane, a middle-aged warrior, once belonged to the noble lineage of House Redmane within the Barony of Redmond. However, the house fell into ruin due to the heavy debts accumulated by his father, who squandered their wealth on tournaments and extravagant ventures. As a result, House Redmane became a mere shadow of its former self, with its lands and titles lost. Talison, the last surviving member of his family, inherited the hollow remnants of the house. Facing the harsh reality of his situation, he chose to take to the road as a Free Lance, a skilled warrior who operates independently, unaffiliated with any noble house or military organization.
Talison is known for his combat prowess and pragmatic nature. Unlike traditional knights who adhere to codes of honor and chivalry, Talison is driven primarily by financial considerations. He offers his services to the highest bidder, valuing monetary gain over noble ideals. This practical approach has made him a versatile and sought-after mercenary, though it has also distanced him from the values he once held as a member of the nobility.
During his travels, Talison found himself in Northgate, where he was thrown into jail following a drunken brawl in a local tavern. While awaiting release, he encountered Bartimaeus, a paladin who had also been imprisoned. This chance meeting changed the course of Talison's life. Bartimaeus was freed by his companions from "The Travellers," a group of adventurers with remarkable abilities, who teleported into the cell to rescue him. Talison seized the opportunity and escaped with them.
Grateful for his freedom, Talison thanked "The Travellers" and made his way back to the barony of Redmond. This experience rekindled a sense of purpose in him, prompting a desire to restore some semblance of honor to his tarnished name. Though still a Free Lance, Talison now contemplates the possibility of using his skills and remaining wealth to rebuild his family's legacy, balancing his pragmatic inclinations with a newfound sense of duty to his heritage.
