When exactly the fall of the Ardruids took place is contentious among the Bards and Hedge-Druids of the Inis. Suffice it to say it happened after the Age of Summer and sufficiently long enough before the modern year that no one remembers the exact date. This is when the Summerlands were riven by a catastrophic force that drove the Seelie Court into Otherworld and the Ardruids from the mortal realms, hiding Mabon behind a perpetual cloak of clouds that seethed out from the mountains and covered the land in perpetual twilight. Their children fled south through the Hall of Stars, driven by a dark force bent on their destruction. However, when all the refugees were inside the mountain the Digir trapped them. Sure in their Halls, the Digir were not prepared for the violent reaction of their captives. A great battle raged below the mountains that day before the Waning Gate was blown open and the refugees fled. The Waning Gate stands ruined and open to this day, the Hall of Stars dark within.
Amidst the expanse of the Nighted Roads, leering with hollow rage into northern Tailté na Bearú, stands the Waning Gate & Hall of Stars, a forsaken Digir Uru-Ká left to crumble into ruin. Once a bustling gate-city teeming with life and commerce, its now-empty halls echo with the mournful howl of winds rushing past ancient stones. Shrouded in tales of curses and hauntings, the Waning Gate & Hall of Stars has become a dreaded waypoint for travelers and merchants alike. The superstitions surrounding it are so potent that those journeying the treacherous Nighted Roads would rather endure detours, risking prolonged journeys and added danger, than risk the perceived malevolent forces that linger within its abandoned confines. Despite its dilapidation, the Waning Gate & Hall of Stars stands as a melancholy reminder of past glory and present desolation. Its crumbling archways and weathered walls bear witness to a time when it was a thriving hub of trade and cultural exchange among the Digir. Now, it serves as a cautionary tale, a somber silhouette against the darkened skies of the Ardenroots, warning travelers of the perils that await those who dare to trespass its forsaken thresholds.
