Swift & True!

Cloistered in between the scrubby hills and clawing rocks of the Barrow Lands lies Brawnheart. A small, productive community that beats back the darkness of Inis Mona with the thrash of sickles and the hammer of metal. Mists crawl across its fields, but hearty fires burn in the hearths, and the regular passage of caravans and patrols keeps this small community not only safe, but well on the map. Here various tribes accumulate to produce Nettlebarb and Eynonium; what the people of the inisa call steel. While the surrounding land is populated by simple fields, one might be surprised upon entering Brawnheart to see the arcane teleportation circle at its center. The entry to the Unknown is dominated by two imposing statues; one of Alderman Zaidu Sarkimuna and Stormheart, the other his wife Bronwyn Sarkimuna. These, coupled with the Ninil estate's gardens and own statuary dedicated to Astrid, the wife Eighdruh Ninil the Ex-Warrior-Orator, give this eccentric little dale a sense of importance and majesty.

Government

Government

Notionally, Alderman Zaidu Sarkimuna is the leader of Brawnheart, however, he co-governs with the second Alderman; Fing. Often Zaidu is called away on matters of importance to the country and so it is advantageous for him to instill in Fing the trust and rights necessary to make decisions for the Caern-Hearth in his absence.

Demographics

Under the auspices of Zaidu, Eighdruh and their elderly friend Fing, Brawnheart was declared a place of tolerance where anyone who could earn their keep and contribute to the settlement was afforded respect. To this end, many of the wayward souls of the inisa find their way to Brawnheart. Whether they are Digir exiled from the Ardenroots, Huldufolk wishing to live apart from the machinations of their kin or even the rare Fwoarians who tires of a life of toil, any that have a practical skill are welcome in Brawnheart.

Industry & Trade

The settlement finds itself on a major trade route along the Edgewold Road and so does business with Dòchas Ùr and Six-Bridges, or even further afield with Manannan Port. Its main exports are Nettlebarb, a mild narcotic plant, and Eynonium; a strong composite metal synonymous with steel. Zaidu's wife Bronwyn was the first to puzzle out the riddle of the Fomorii's strange metallurgy and begin dispensing it to the wider inisa.

Districts

Districts

Brawnheart is too rustic for urban development and so has no districts, but the town-proper sits neatly on 6 acres of land.

Infrastructure

There are a few mills and farmsteads around Brawnheart, at its center is a magic podium for those with arcane abilities to use in quickly traveling to other locations. Near to this is the Dark Lantern tavern where traders and travelers often stop while passing through.

Places of Interest

At the edge of town from its entrance sits the Ninil Estate. The residence of Eighdruh and Astrid, it has a beautiful and sweeping garden just outside, decent fields just at its rear and its said no errant child wanders from the doorstep of the home with an empty belly or without a blanket. These children, and even those with parents in the settlement, refer to Eighdruh as the "Ancient Mother".

Caer Corgilinn, a rather comically small fortress, sits a few miles east of Brawnheart. Here, a clan of fey knights known as the Corgi Lughlinn foray into the wilds and along the Edgewold, patrolling the realm to keep it safe.

History

Brawnheart was established sometime after the Year of Invasions in the later seasons of 2808. Originally built on the foundations of a ruined caern-hearth before Zaidu Sarkimuna recovered a land title and was gifted this land Brawnheart sits on by the Ard Righ Cian an Nathair the Savior, it has since become a small but industrious settlement comprised of various peoples and tribes of the inisa.

In recent years, whispers of a shadowy creature sweeping along the edges of the fields has begun to rise. Shadowy wings and a crown of will o' wisp lights are seen on misty nights when the vapors of the fog slither between trees. While this legend has not tarnished the reputation of Brawnheart, it does leave its visitors wary to travel beyond its fences.
