Prove Togan's Innocence in the General Store Murder

Brajan considers Togan a good friend, and refuses to believe he'd harm a fly. He's been trying to investigate the case, but the adults won't let him see the body or visit the crime scene.

A note that was on Pearce's person at the time of his death, reading:

Green as a meadow
Sweet as a peach
The darkest of secrets
Lie just out of reach

No one has recognized the handwriting thus far. Or has any idea what it means.

A handwritten store register, tracking the items purchased at the general store along with the prices paid and the purchasers. The last few entries on the day of the murder:

Travelling provisions, purchased by Baerli at a rather high price

Animal feed, purchased by Brajan several hours before Pearce's death

A single can of beans, purchased by Togan

Since Duncan is the mayor and there's no formalized criminal justice system in Mossgrove, the final verdict will likely come from him.

How anyone could look at this dumpy little man and call him a killer is a little baffling, but nevertheless he finds himself in the town stocks.

The friendly general store shopkeeper, found dead in his own store beneath a heavy shelf. Apparently Togan had some reason to want him dead, but exactly what that is has yet to be elaborated upon.

Keela is convinced that Togan is the man who killed her husband.
