- Leonus goes for a walk with Prince Gaius ir'Wynarn.
- Leonus explains that he's here with a group of friends that he owes, who seem to always be in the middle of everything that happens. Weird.
- Gaius explains that he's here as a ward of Thrane, exchanged as a programme to maintain peace. He's treated well, and he now actively practices the traditions of the Blood of Vol and the Church of the Silver Flame. The two faiths are really compatible! If they could just talk to eachother!
- Leonus doesn't respond to this with the enthusiasm Gaius hoped.
- Leonus asks if Gaius has much contact with his siblings, he says he gets and sends letters with both of them, but Kaius's letters are always cold and overly formal. Interesting.
- Gaius leads Leonus back to the others.
- Gaius introduces himself to the others, and Lozaal asks him if Leonus has as much of a boner for him as he does for the king. Gaius laughs it off and says he's sure Leonus has some bones to spare.
- Reunited, the party goes to find a tavern to wait in, since they don't know where they need to go.
- Warden finds a Golden Dragon Inn and they wait there. They get food.
- After a bit, Dax gets a bit antsy and she goes to roam the streets. Lozaal and Warden (in the form of a cat) go with her. Leonus and Kal stay in the inn, though Leonus is torn about splitting the group.
- After wandering for a bit, Darian Baluarte starts walking with them. He greets Dax, who suddenly remember him, and freaks Lozaal out. Lozaal wants to know how to make people forget??
- Darien leads them under the cathedral, to a hidden library. Sat within is an elderly looking elf with golden snake eyes and rainbow feathers in his hair. He introduces himself as Samyr Kes.
- Dax is like, woah, what? He's dead!
- Samyr explains that, officially he is dead, but that's a lie. On the night before their confrontation with Bel Shalor, the Shadow in the Flame, Tira Miron took Samyr aside and gave him a mission. She knew she was going to die, and she needed someone to ensure the future she had envisioned. Samyr has been silently, thanklessly, guiding the church for the last 700 years. He's very frustrated by the changes wrought by the Last War, it's made his job much harder.
- Samyr explains that he's going to help Dax with the demon regardless, it's the right thing to do, but he also offers her a place within his organisation. He's seen her frustration at the powerlessness of the modern church, he wants to change it. He's kept meticulous records of everything he and his organisation have done, and is prepared, if need be, to start an inquisition and put the church back on track.
- He hopes it doesn't come to that though. Dax agrees to help on the condition she can leave if she's asked to do something she doesn't agree with. He agrees, but she'll forget about him and Miron's Tears if she does.
- Samyr also mentions the Order of the Silver Seal to Warden.
- Samyr has the Sacred Bell of Saint Cassia. They only need a suitable location. Dax suggests Avrahk Mbar'ost, and Samyr agrees. He'll make his way there and wait for them, as Dax has some other business she wants to address in Flamekeep.
- Dax asks about the "blessing", the memory altering. Samyr explains it's the work of Jaeinshar, the Golden Serpent, his patron Couatl. Samyr has been channeling the couatl for the last 2 centuries or so, in a process similar to possession, so Jaeinshar hasn't manifested physically in some time.
- Darien leads them back to the cathedral entrance, and all of them but Dax forget all about it.
- Sulzrirtas, in Dax's mind, says she cannot trust this elf. Someone with good intentions wouldn't wipe memories. He's sus.
- Lozaal thinks Dax is being weird, why did they just walk to the cathedral and then leave? He makes his own way back to the tavern.
- Dax and Warden return to the tavern, and gathers the party in her room. Leonus sits by the window to keep a look out. Dax explains that she spoke to a magical elf that can wipe memories, who has the bell and will help, but Lozaal and Warden don't remember it.
- Lozaal is upset and skeptical. An elf wiped his memory? An elf? The ancestral enemy of his people?
- Dax tries to assuage him, assuring him he'll remember when he sees the elf again. She gives a brief explanation, that the elf was a party member of Tira Miron's and has been nudging the church on the right path!
- Lozaal is skeptical. "So, you've met with a Shadow Council secretly ruling the church, wipes memories, and has a magic bell, and you agreed to help them?"
- Lozaal makes his displeasure about this known. Dax responds "noted."
- Warden says, if it'll make them feel better, Leonus can smell them!
- Everyone is confused. Lozaal asks if Leonus can smell elves??
- Leonus clarifies he can sense evil.
- Kal doesn't see why they're being so harsh?
- This doesn't actually help the case.
- Oh! Dax mentions that the elf knows about the Gatekeepers!
- That puts some points in the trust pile for Warden. Lozaal is indignant.
- Lozaal is concerned that this elf wants the demon for nefarious purposes. What's gonna be done with the demon once it's bound?
- Kal trusts him, he's a member of the church! He said so!
- Leonus is trying to remain impartial but damn Kal is making it hard.
- Lozaal will go along with this, but he wants it known that he hates this! Dax didn't even ask to see the bell!
- Dax doesn't see how anything can be proved either way, if this elf can modify memories then they can't necessarily trust anything is real.
- Dax says she appreciates this is hard, but the worst is yet to come. Anything could happen once the demon is released, and she needs their help.
- Kal says she'll...be there!
- They spend some time getting supplies in Flamekeep to prepare for what's coming.
- Dax buys a potion of greater healing and 2 potions of healing, gives the Greater Healing potion to Lozaal.
- Warden crafts 2 potions of Superior Healing, and 2 normal potions of healing.
- Leonus goes out looking for bananas, and finds some amazing red (jalapeño) and green (habanero (like in Riedra!)) bananas! He buys 40 of them.
- He eats some as he walks back to the tavern. Just snacking on chili's. His face is red and his tongue is burning but he just can't stop eating em.
- Leonus writes a letter for Etrigani and sends it via Sivis. He's warning them about Kyn, who may invoke his name, but he assures them he has nothing to do with anything Kyn does.
- Lozaal, noticing that Leonus likes spice, gives him some carolina pepper flakes. He stomachs it like a champ.
- This prompts a discussion about Kyn and Atur, where Leonus trained. Apparently, this explains a lot. "Oh, he went to Uni in Fantasy Vegas"
- It's a great place, they should all really go when they get a chance! Maybe they'll find their missing stableboy.
- Dax goes to have a chat with Jaela. Jaela doesn't have much specific guidance, she's never actually bound a demon, and it's unclear what Dax's demon can actually do. She's also unable to teach the binding spell to Dax, because she doesn't study spellcasting in the same way that Dax does, she just wills things to happen and they do. Drego probably knows the spell.
- She wishes Dax good luck, and thanks Dax for "being cool". Dax isn't sure if this is a pun because she's cold-blooded.
- Kal uses Sending to contact Drego, informing him they need his help in Avrahk Mbar'ost.
- They then go and get a lightning rail to Starilaskur, and then walk back to Avrahk Mbar'ost. During the journey, Dax carves some little trinkets, to give to all of her friends to remember her by in case she dies.
- They level up

Kal to Drego
Kal: "Hi Drego, it's Kal. It's time to de-demon Dax if that makes sense. Make your way over to Avrahk Mbar'ost ASAP to give us a hand."
Drego: "Hi Kal, it's Drego. Got it, I'll get on the next rail."
