The party follow the maimed Goblin's blood trail, passing through a large cross roads with an old, withered tree at its centre. They move into a dark area of the forest and they find the goblin resting, patching up some of his wounds. Fenris Velante approaches to finish off the goblin that has led them to this dead end, but he finds himself caught in a giant spider's web, a trap that he could not see in gloom of the moonlit night. After the desperate scramble to slay the giant Spider, the encounter left Fenris Velante poisoned and paralysed as a result.
The party wished to tend to their wounds and get Fenris back into fighting form. To do so they could not feed him a healing broth, for his paralysis meant he could not swallow. Instead Edward Fogbluff used some utility magic to commit an act the party would scarcely want to relive. Now in the throws of night, the party push on to find where the Goblin's had escaped to. The party find tracks that lead them to a stream, and into a brown bears feeding ground. Once the bear caught the party's scent they brandished torches in an attempt to scare off the beast. However, the bear thrashed in the stream extinguishing the torches and weapons were quickly drawn in their place. Edward Fogbluff doused his blade in poison harvested from the giant spider earlier in the night, and with a well placed thrust, took down the bear.
The party then find a large gorge with a crudely made drawbridge raised at its far side. A few goblins can be seen patrolling the area. Edward summons an unseen servant to pull the lever for the drawbridge but is spotted. Artax and the goblins exchange arrows as Edward continues to work on the lever finally triggering the bridge to lower. Artax takes out a number of goblins with his sharp shooting.
Fenris and Mornington head the charge as the bridge meets the ground and the remaining goblins are dispatched by the two skilled swordsman.
