The party understand they must be quick and pursue the goblin thieves to secure the ship's cargo, and better yet free any prisoners. The party make their way into the twisted forest, following hunting trails and sparsely used paths that wind through the vegetation. The party pass an ancient totem wrapped in dense undergrowth, it has feint markings but they cannot decipher the language.

Taking a fork in the road the party encounter a group of Boggles, mischievous fey who start robbing them for items of interest. Edward Fogbluff unleashes an eldritch blast, not to target, but to scare the Boggles. It works and the Boggles flee, escaping with little but a bar of soap, to Mornington Lormanston's disappointment.

The party next find a grove of mushrooms in a pungent area of forest where the air is thick with moisture. Artax recognises a certain mushroom that is common to his homeland, it can be consumed in a broth to increase the healing process during rest. However the patch in which these mushrooms are growing are surrounded by large, blue, foreign mushrooms unknown to the party. Artax moves with caution, trying his best not to touch this unknown species, he slips however and knocks one of the mushrooms, which, to his surprise, quickly shrivels up while releasing an incredibly loud shriek. This starts a chain reaction amongst the mushrooms, which causes a lot of noise disturbance and the party collectively grit their teeth, worried they have revealed their location.

Moving on swiftly, the party navigate to an area of the forest that opens up slightly, where the air is not so thick in their lungs. While marching on, Fenris Velante hears a twig snap in the undergrowth bordering the path, he peers into the darkness met by a sharp pair of eyes and a sharper set of teeth. A Goblin Worg rider bursts out from the bushes, the Worg's teeth sinking into Fenris Velante' side knocking him unconscious. After a heated battle the Worg is slain and the Goblin tries to escape, knocked unconscious by the party. When he comes to the party try to get information from him, only to realise he only speaks in the vile tongue of Goblinoid. Instead they decide to cut one of his ankle tendons and set him free, in the hope they can follow his blood trail to the other Goblins.
