Literally called "Merikira of the Crescent Moon" in Draconic Illiadian. Also known as "Meri, the Dragonmother" in the Rencalist faiths. The holy mother and divine queen of Illiadian Dragonfolk, the closest sister of Rencal Kei-Rhai, and the main subject of Merikiraist worship. While generally worshipped by the Dragons of Illiad, both humanoid and quadrupedal, as their mother-goddess, this relationship of her as their "mother" is seen as mostly metaphorical, because Dorro have evolved a lot since their initial creation. Only Illiadian Moon-Dorro still take this relationship literally, as they see themselves closest to ancient dragonkind. This is notable, as she is noted to often meddle in the affairs of mortals and take mortal lovers, some of which are Illidian dragons, but never Moon-Dorro, probably due to this connection. Most notably though, almost all of them have been women, with a few exceptions that didn't end that well.
Merikira is often credited as having accidentally created the lone Moon of Illiad when trying to create her own world, which promptly crashed into the Planet that Rencal was currently forming. Rencal, taking this accident in stride, let the moon stay a companion to the world he created, as a beacon of hope and a shining guide in the night.
Merikira is rumored to have had both audiences with Bahamut and Tiamat when she was able to visit Sancstoryl. Her relationship with Tiamat can be described as a cold and distant rivalry between two dragon-queens due to their radically differing ideals, while her relationship to Bahamut is a much more positive friendship, even with her chaotic nature, compared to Bahamuts Lawfulness. She also saw Selûne as a kindred spirit and considered her and Sehanine Moonbow friends.
Despite being called "The Bronze Queen", Merikira has no connection to Sancstorylian Bronze Dragons. Nonetheless, her scales are supposedly rusty-reddish in color.
The basic tenets of the Merikiraists faith:
- Do not sow cruelty and misery, and stop those that do.
- Find peace in the night, and let the moon and stars guide you.
- Roam the lands, free and wild, and find places of your own, so that someday you may have a family.
- Respect the woods, the mountains, the rivers, the seas, the skies and all the creatures living in them, for my brother loves them.
- Achieve greatness, stand proud, and know, my children, that I love you.
