Illiadian Terms and Idioms

The Illiadian languages and cultures have several saying, terms and idioms that can't be found anywhere else. Here are some example:

Cathedralian - Anything of Illadian divine nature, and related to the Marble Cathedral or the Obsidian Cathedral. Most often used when reffering to both the major and minor deities of Illiad, as well as their half-mortal children or their prophets and saints.

Children of the Cathedral - A term describing the half-mortal children (and sometimes even grandchildren and great-grandchildren) of both the major deities and the minor deities of Illiad, who often act as prophets, though usually it's mostly used for the children of the Holy Grand Counts of the cathedral, due to children of the four major deities being so rare.

Karrin - A word from the Vi'hai language, the language spoken by the Gods of Illiad. Meaning "Children of the Gods", it's often used interchangably with the term "Mortal", though it also refers to immortals that aren't associated with divinity, like Shadow- and Light-Walkers. It's considered an affectionate nickname.

"By Rencal's Ears!" - Commonly used by followers of the illiadian deity Rencal Kei-Rhai to express surprise, bewilderment or wonder. A reference to Rencal's most commonly used Ree-Mai avatar, and its canine ears.

"Oh, Dragonmother's patience..." - Referencing Merikira te Ruvea, often used by Dorro and Tirrdaka of Dorro ancestry to express quiet resignation. Originally started as "Have the Dragonmother's patience", as a reminder to oneself to keep ones composure.

"Sonitu's singing out-of-tune." - Illiadian proverb originally used amongst musicians and bards, referencing Sonitu, to blame bad performances on her instead of a lack of personal skill. Means, "I'm having a bad day, but will be fine".

Tylar - Typically pronounced "Tai-Lar". The Standard Illiadian term for a Cleric, used for Rencalist clerics in particular.

Reghir - Pronounced "Rre-geer". The Draconic Illiadian term for a Cleric, used for Merikiraist clerics that are Dorro in particular. Known to tattoo religious texts onto their scales.

Enavi'the - Someone who has Ena flowing through their body and soul, and the ability to use Ena-Techniques.

Rin Shad'tha - Children of Shadow. Refers to Shadow/Light-Walkers, Tirrdaka, Half-Tirrdaka and Feda-Lide.
