The Blue Dragon protector and de-facto leader of the city-state of Svantmiirik. In many ways, Cumulonimbus, or "Nimbus" as some people have simply nicknamed him, goes against the grain of the average blue dragon. While he certainly shares their love for order and structure, and seems similarly vain about his status as a dragon, he does not seem to share their usual enjoyment of tyranny and cruelty over their "lessers". In fact, his attitude towards humanoids is reminiscent of that of Silver Dragons, as he seems to enjoy their company, and even though he "leads" Svantmiirik by way of also leading the city's founding Kobold-tribe, the Skyscales, he prefers to be relatively hands-off and keeps the leadership of the city in the hands of the city's mayor. Instead, he tends to involve himself in city affairs only in emergencies, when the city is under attack, when holding speeches, or when planning and leading festivals and concerts; as he takes a keen interest in the music- and art-scenes of Svantmiirik. He sometimes joins with the revelry with a specifically made instrument that he can play expertly, the absolutely gigantic Cobalt Dragon's Octobass, a bowed string instrument that can emulate the sound of any instrument within the Viol-Group. According to himself and the people of Svantmiirik, he gave himself the title of "Cobalt Dragon", due to his rejection of the chromatic dragon-goddess Tiamat and her tenets of tyranny and cruelty.
Cumulonimbus also doesn't frequent the usual territories that Blue Dragons live in, namely deserts, dry lands and rocky coasts, and seems to favor the heavily forested area around Svantmiirik; likely due to the many skyscale kobolds that live there, who, according to him, he shares a kinship with. The location of his lair remains a mystery, as he seems to be magically suppressing the effects his lair has on the surrounding area; not a single sandstorm has been seen anywhere near Svantmiirik, not in the Kingdom of Bursztyn, nor the Grenwal Confederate Empire. Some rumors say that Cumulonimbus has the favor of both Bahamut and in some limited form the magical aspect of Corellon Larethian, allowing him to access his draconic magic through bardic means, but that is mere speculation.
The oddity surrounding Cumulonimbus has stumped scholars for ages, with some having theorized that he may just be an elaborate illusion, conjured up by the many bards of Svantmiirik; but close-up experiences have disproven this theory almost immediately.
Cumulonimbus' main representative and speaker is one Nax Skyscale. It seems like Cumulonimbus trusts Nax almost completely, due to their familiar bond through Nax's draconic ancestor, the previous, legendary blue dragon of the Skyscales during their time in the deserts, who also happens to be Cumulonimbus' father.
