Masque was a known rising star within the Jade Foxes, and when the position of Captain of the Blade came up for re-election she put herself forward. She ran on an explicit platform of avoiding morality in the pursuit of profit; she wanted the Jade Foxes to do more assassinations for high-paying clients. She did garner a good amount of support during the campaign, but ultimately lost to Kendra Zodian. Masque quit in disgust, and taking some of her supporters with her she joined the Aurum.
The Aurum was leaderless in Sharn, after the arrest of Thule 'Bearkiller' Malachan (JF03. You Are Cordially Invited), various factions were fighting on the streets and attempting to seize power for themselves. The Jade Foxes saw a small amount of this fight when they went to the House Sivis message station (JF06. The Wave Trials), but were not present when Masque managed to take control by forming an alliance with Boras d'Cannith. Recognising the threat of her former colleagues to their plans, Masque attempted to have the Jade Foxes discredited by framing them for the destruction of Pilgrim's Rest (JF09. Framed).
The Jade Foxes picked up the trail on Masque again after investigating the Silent Stream Mine (JF10. Mystery Of The Mine), which lead them to the Burning Tree deep underneath Sharn (JF11. Finding The Burning Tree). They caught up with Masque aboard the House Cannith airship Maker's Destiny, under the command of Elias d'Cannith. Masque leapt overboard with a warforged; following her down, the Jade Foxes found Masque attempting to assassinate Boranel ir'Wynarn. Masque was killed in the ensuing melee. Removing her mask, they expect to recognise her - but all they saw was an unremarkable elf.
