Karina, also known as the Moonmaiden, Lady of Moonlight, and the Sister of the Sun is the goddess of the moon. The twin of the Sun god Solatair and older sister of the god of death Crell, she is the holder of the portfolios of the moon, life, twilight, the patron to the few good lycans, and the creator of the elvish race. To the elves she is called Ithilly.
Her name is shared with the moon of Arata, Karina, though it is unknown if the moon was named for the goddess or the goddess for the moon. Regardless, most of the Realms humans and elves believe the moon to be the goddess herself, watching over the world.
Personality and Power
Quite like the cycles of the moon, Karina has many changing moods and natures. Her faithful, coming from many walks of life, view her in countless different ways and she reflected this. At times she is vivacious and majestic, given to action and dance, while at others she is subdued and motherly, almost poetic and tranquil. Finally but quite rarely, she could be aggressive and fierce, but cold, and with little mercy for her enemies, especially her most hated enemy, the now dead god of darkness Erebus and his successor Axgander.
Relationships
Karina counted as her allies in the fellow elvish pantheon, along with her twin brother, Solatair. As well she cherished her son, Myriddin, the god of magic who is her greatest protector and ally against Erebus and his lust for her. Karina respected the Morning Lord Akrus for his passion and his grounded nature.
Her eternal foe is the god Axgander master of shadows and the lord of vampires, but it was not always the shadowed usurper. Erebus was once the lord of darkness and hungrily lusted after Karina in the twilight days of creation causing Solatairto take and endless vigil as the pair circled the skies of the Realms in their endless dance.
Her other foes include Bezel, for the endless mischief he causes amidst the shadows of her night, and Ceiyr, who strays many lycans from a kind and just path. She cares little for The Traveller, seeing him as more a lazy good for nothing than a vagabond or villain.
