Changelings are a fey humanoid species related to dopplegangers who had a remarkable natural ability for shapeshifting. Changelings are extremely rare on Toril or in Faerûn, and their similarities with the resoundingly hated, inherently evil dopplegangers has forced them to be very secretive and protective of their true identities.
