Mountain Dwarves, also known as Shield Dwarves, are the most common of the Stout Folk in Toril and in Faerûn. They were once rulers of massive, mighty kingdoms that spanned the entire continent, all of which have fallen or splintered into smaller, albeit still influential, dwarven nations. Shield dwarves are known for being gruff, cynical, and distrusting of strangers; however, they were also known as fiercely loyal, dedicated, and ferocious warriors as well as being some of the finest craftspeople.
