The Protector's Enclave is the southwestern district of the city of Neverwinter and serves as the seat of power for The Lord Protector of Neverwinter, Dagult Neverember. The southwestern part of Neverwinter was almost completely untouched by the earthquakes, volcanic explosions, and pyroclastic flows during the eruption of Mount Hotenow; however, all of the inhabitants were killed either by noxious gases or asphyxiation due to oxygen deprivation from the firestorm engulfing the city. The quadrant was formerly home to The Merchant Quarter, Peninsula District, and the City Core and became known as Settler's Enclave, as it was the only habitable part of Neverwinter immediately following the calamity. Upon his arrival in Neverwinter, Dagult Neverember negotiated for control of the district in return for his aid in the rebuilding effort which had been previously led by The First Citizen of Neverwinter, Jelvis Grinch.
