This dense forest in the heart of the Edelrend was home to the earliest of the Elves and there are still some aboriginal colonies of Wild Elves in its darker places. The forest was an early source of timber for the settlers pushing across the Wheatsea and building along the western coast, sparking some early and very brutal conflicts between Men and Elves. Over time, the ancestors of the Markand family tamed the area and the local Wood Elves came to a settlement from them.
