As one approaches the Dwarven mountains along the King's Road, the last human settlement they'll find is Mudwattle. A dreary little collection of houses and a barn hugging the road, this thorp prides itself on its pigs. Every week on Choresday, the farmers bring their prized sow and boars to the Bluebarn to show off their skills, and often, Dwarves from the mountains come down looking for a good watch hog or truffle hog. NO one here sells their pigs for food; that would be a travesty.

There are no wells, but the runoff from the mountains can usually be enough to supply their water needs. They have gotten quite good at collecting rainwater, but the Dwarves that visit usually bring kegs of spring water for trade. There are also a few roadside stalls selling what other meager things they produce; carrots, cabbages, and the odd bit of weaving and cobbling. Typically, the more wealthy Dwarves buy these things out of charity.

There is one tiny pub in the thorp known as "The Pig's Knuckle", which sells porridge, pickled eggs, and a watered-down stout from clearly superior Dwarven make. No one seems to complain, as they are too busy pampering their hogs and eeking out a living. While they DO offer travelers a safe roof and warm room for cheap, the smell of Mudwattle often leaves travelers to press on or just camp outside the place.

In a burrow behind the Bluebarn lives a wild but tame boar called Drudley. The farmers have used him for several years to sire some of their best animals and once a month they have "Drudley Day where they put out their best scraps to attract him. Whichever farmer gets Drudley to feast, is the farmer that can use him for mating purposes that month.
