Just as Port Westwail was a fort to fight off the precursor of the Wild Elves, so too did Farview (now called Farview-by-the-Sea) have its roots in an ancient fortress. Before men fought with the dragons, the current keep known as Valiance Hall was simply Fort Valiant. Here a company of men helped support the efforts of Port Westwail to the north and was responsible for cutting back much of the Ravenheart Forest and exterminating a pack of vicious trolls. This clearing helped make way for what's now known as the Wheatsea. Little remains of the old village save for the boundary stones outside the Rounding Road and the original "lighthouse".

After the first century, under Herras's rule, the troops there were called home to Glimring and the Keep was inhabited by members of the Kinstain family. However, Kinstain greed caused there to be a rift in the royal halls, and it was turned over to the Markand family and remains in their hands. The current steward of the keep, however, is called Duarin Steeleye, a young and fiery – but likewise fair – cousin of Lady Mathra the Fair.

While there are very few tradesfolk with a seafaring background, you can find competent carpenters, net menders, and sailmakers capable of repairing a ship. Other locations of note are the semi-permanent colony of beach dwelling Adoh Domari who act as an interface with the Sea Elves, who only showed up about 300 years ago. They erected a sort of diplomatic tower (called Shellspire) to promote trade and good relations with the local community.

There is also a market in the town where farmers and animal tenders come to sell their wares. It's not uncommon for it to be selling cloth and assorted goods one day, and then sheep, goats, or birds the next. It's a very active market and is very fairly priced since it's just under the shadow of the Valiant Keep.

While Fairview is closely tied to the Markand family, it actually is considered to be the northernmost town of Watersview Shire and works in close connection with Cooper's Rest and the Halfling Wagoneers to ensure peace and stability there.
