The Império de Tarsis, the Empire of Tarsis, or more simplply the Império, defines itself as a nation of creation, not revival. Its philosophy rejects the mimicry of Old Earth nations, striving instead to forge a new, unified Human identity rooted in tradition, self-reliance, and spiritual guidance. Anchored by its central religious doctrine, The Faith, and its cornerstone text, The Book, the Império seeks to cultivate a natural, decentralized growth of civilization while maintaining the strength and authority of the Imperial throne.

The Império views the chaos of pre-Imperial human expansion as a warning: humanity must grow methodically and organically if it is to endure. Colonies are established with minimal interference, expected to evolve independently within the structure of Imperial guidance rather than rely on rapid industrialization or technological shortcuts.

Overview

Tarsis rejects the rapid and "unatural" partitioning of Maerth by pre-established Earth-derived nations, claiming this undermines humanity's potential for organic growth. Instead, the Império employs techno-feudalism, where regional lords, governors, and technocrats are entrusted with knowledge and authority to develop territories naturally. These individuals (called Patrões or "Patrons") control advanced technologies, ensuring their dominions thrive sustainably.

The House of Tarsis, led by the reigning monarch (Empreror/Empress), serves as the stabilizing center of the Império. A legislative assembly composed of representatives (Deputados) from each territory, colony and Crown World advises and constrains the monarchy, blending autocratic tradition with democratic ideals. Major reforms, including declarations of war and colonial expansions, require this assembly's consent.

Tarsis views itself as a rebirth of humanity’s earlier civilizations, particularly pre-industrial Mediterranean empires and Latin American republics. The monarchy’s goal is to lead humanity through a "second rise of civilization," where civilization grows organically under stable and traditional frameworks, evolving naturally rather than through artificial leaps such as pre-determined borders or ideologies.

Quotes

"A tree that grows too fast collapses under its own weight. But one that grows with care and wisdom, its roots firm in the soil of tradition, will bear fruit for all eternity."

— Emperor Rei Hector II, Address to the Council of Patrões

Society and Culture

The Faith permeates all aspects of life in the Império. Every Tarsian child learns to read The Book as part of their education, ensuring a shared moral and cultural foundation.

Tarsian culture celebrates its new identity through art, architecture, and festivals inspired by but distinct from Earth traditions. Music, literature, and visual arts often depict themes of divine guidance, the natural order, and the unity of humanity under the crown.

The Faith depicts aliens as evil spirits or demonic entities, casting them as antagonists in humanity’s spiritual and material journey. This fosters deep xenophobia within the Império, making relations with alien factions, particularly the Gospel of K'zon, fraught with conflict.

Economy and Colonial Policy

Colonies are encouraged to develop independently, guided by The Book. Each settlement grows at its own pace, forming self-sustaining communities before integrating into the wider Imperial fold. Colonies are required to contribute excess resources and personnel. In return, the crown provides protection, guidance, and the infrastructure necessary for trade. New settlements are often founded on harsh, undeveloped worlds, relying on the ingenuity of its settlers, their adaptability to their world and the teachings of The Book to flourish. This philosophy creates resilient but often isolated communities, deeply loyal to the crown yet disconnected from broader human or alien influences.

Govurment

The Imperial Crown governs from Autoridad on Maerth and is supported by the Council of Patrões, who represent the nations various colonial and feudal territories. While the crown wields ultimate authority, colonial governance is highly autonomous. Colonies are free to grow naturally under their Patrões, so long as they remain loyal to the Faith and pay their tithes in resources and personnel.

Colonies that rebel against the crown or violate Imperial decrees are not destroyed but "de-elevated" and turned into "Penitent Colonies": Where their advanced technology and infrastructure are forcibly removed often trough a swift war, plunging them into pre-industrial conditions. An Tarsis Auxilia monitoring station—nicknamed a "Tyrant Outpost " orbits the planet to ensure compliance, preventing space travel or external communication. These worlds are often left to survive without Imperial support, their populations regressing into primitive or medieval lifestyles, sometimes for generations until their sentence have been completed. In extreme cases, these colonies are abandoned entirely, leaving the inhabitants to their fate.
