Nightseeker Rising

July 12, 2020

Ancine 13th, 951

  • The Peas engaged Yoxxel in battle, soon discovering the Shadow Guard lying in wait for an ambush
    • Deowyn Centhos soon appeared and made an attempt to soothe aggressions as the large assassin and the caster assassin revealed themselves, floating in on a cloud
    • Tyerjon froze the caster's cloud with his ice breath as Deowyn managed to force a small moment of dialogue, with Wander convincing Inglis Alexandar to stand down, temporarily, but in casting See Devil, saw Deowyn's true form to be the devil Burvakos, and revealed Yoxxel to be the devil Shastalith
  • Unpleased with Deowyn's answers in his attempt at peace, the group entered battle once more
    • Seamus cut through a number of the Shadow Guard as Wander engaged one in a dance on the walls of the tower
    • Phaelnah kept Inglis alive as he was attacked by a number of the Shadow Guard, taking out a few herself
    • Leadbelly and Journey prevented the large assassin and caster from entering the office, fighting them from a window as they returned atop a cloud
    • Tyerjon focused on subduing Yoxxel and Deowyn, eventually bringing down the devil with the flat of his sword while Wander "knocked out" the half-elf with his dagger
    • As the Shadow Guard were removed from life, the Caster and Large assassins were dropped down to the ground below, causing a bit of a scene
  • Yoxxel began melting into a pile of goopy flesh
    • As Phaelnah attempted to Dispel Magic and Inglis freaked out helplessly, a small devil crawled out of the melting mound
    • Wander grabbed the devil and interrogated it, learning that the body she had inhabited was simply a clone of the real Yoxxel
    • As Wander threatened her with retribution from Etarus, she eventually scattered into ash as the link to the Material Plane was severed
  • The Emerald Guard began to investigate the disturbances and closed in on the office
    • The party blocked the doors, and eventually all decided to jump into the Roomy Chest
    • Journey cast Invisibility on herself and Tyerjon, and they jumped out the window with a Feather Fall just as the guards breached the office doors.
    • The two continued to escape Hymathel, lea ving by the west gate.
  • Regrouping outside the city, the party began to travel south towards Shiloae through Taerin Ucarin
    • After a day of travel through the mountains, the group settled in for a rest, guarded by Wander's Tiny Hut.

  • Soon after Wander's hut dropped in the morning, the group discovered a Shadow Guard assassin asleep behind a rock nearby, prompting an attack from the others lying in wait
    • Despite taking some heavy damage from the assassins, the party managed to dispatch their foes with relative ease
    • Seamus finally enacted his revenge on the killer of his family, learning his name to be Gaval'sar Gasvado as he decapitated him with a golf swing
    • The caster assassin Derriden Copswhet attempted to escape, but Seamus threw Gaval'sar's head at him, knocking him out and sending him bouncing down the cliffside
  • Journey and Wander jumped down the cliff to ensure the death of the mage, eventually finding his body out of phase with the Material Plane, facilitated by some strange magic
  • Seamus cut Gaval'sar's body into mince and stuffed him in a bag
  • Increasingly wary, the group continued through the mountain pass, eventually encountering the Nightseeker standing in wait between two cliffsides
    • Wander attempted to use a teleporting mushroom, but was simple smushed against the side of the cliff
    • After a brief exchange, Nightseeker revealed she simply wanted the Sallow Stone
    • With conversation going nowhere, the Nightseeker pulled the party into her shadows, but not before Leadbelly was able to pin her with a well-thrown javelin
  • The party was dumped out into a large, ancient tomb of some sort, but Deowyn and Inglis were nowhere to be seen
    • Spotting the Twisted Knight by the Nightseeker's side, hostilities began
    • As the party approached the Nightseeker, various surviving members of the Darkheart appeared to block their path, including Yyk Sen, the Rain Knight, and a very small Abrax.
    • The Nightseeker attempted to keep her distance as the group attempted to focus her down
    • Seamus and Leadbelly engaged Yyk Sen as Wander took his critical shots where he could get them
    • Tyerjon attempted to rush the Nightseeker, but was stopped by the Twisted Knight
    • Journey casually engaged the Rain Knight as Phaelnah directly focused her cousin with powerful spells
    • Eventually divining that it was Wander who held the Sallow Stone, the Nightseeker attempted to take it from the tiefling, but with with Leadbelly and Tyerjon slashing at her, she was sent down with a blow from Wander
    • Seeing this, the Rain Knight jumped across the room to confront Wander in a rage, slashing at him with his Screamer, but he was quickly put down
    • Journey focused her Jewelfire Smite on Abrax, killing him and turning him into a crystal
    • Badly hurt, Yyk Sen retreated from the bloodthirsty Seamus and attempted to steal the Sallow Stone from Wander by growing a number of arms
      • Wander deftly managed to protect the stone for a time but was overwhelmed by the number of arms
    • Yyk Sen then sacrificed some of her flesh to the Nightseeker, reviving her and giving her the stone
  • In possession of all 7 artifacts, the Nightseeker began to resurrect the demigod Vortek
    • As Vortek rose, the Nightseeker used a prepared ritual to absorb his power, leaving him roughly the size of a normal humanoid
    • As Vortek screamed out about how terrible his nap was and how much everything sucked, the Nightseeker disappeared, claiming that she could finally fix everything
    • As the Nightseeker rose, Leadbelly Balnar was freed from his metal prison, his skin pale and emaciated
  • Left stunned in the tomb with the ceiling slowly beginning to crumble around them, the room was filled with the voice of Yyk Sen incessantly fawning over her ex-boyfriend
