Chapter 1: Something Wicked

It was supposed to be a routine mission. It turned out to be anything but. A seemingly innocuous detour leads the party down a dark path...

Chapter 2: A Festering Wound

After a harrowing escape from the Underdark, the party tries to find a way back to civilization. Fickle fae and malevolent forces, however, have different plans for them. 

Chapter 3: Tip of the Iceberg

With the Witherwoods behind them and precious cargo in tow, the party begins its journey through the Svelagr Mountain Range. 

  • Session 18

    After a brief farewell to the river spirit, the party began its climb. Almost immediately, Onyx β€” who had long called the Svelagr Mountain Range home β€” noticed worrying signs. Wildlife was fleeing down the mountain, and there was an unnatural chill hanging in the air. 

    The party eventually came across a group of frostbitten humans sheltering in a cave, and learned that they were fleeing the wrath of the Chilling Terror. The refugees also informed the party that some of their relatives had gone mad after touching ice formations that the Chilling Terror had left behind and had begun attacking them. The party encountered these lost souls during their night watch; unfortunately, attempts to calm or reason with them fell flat, and the party was forced to defend itself from the gibbering stragglers' aggression. 

    The party helped the surviving refugees put the slain ones to rest. Seeing that the refugees were in no shape to defend themselves from further threat, Gorag offered to escort them back to the nearest settlement. The refugees gladly accepted the help and, after warning the party that they had seen a number of the Chilling Terror's minions during their descent, left with Gorag to safety. 

  • Session 19

    The party continued their trek up the mountains, cautious of any strange ice formations and creatures after the refugees' warnings. They encountered a pack of young rime wyverns gorging themselves on fleeing wildlife and fought them off with the help of a local tribe of kobolds but came out of the encounter heavily bruised.

    Desperate for some rest, the party searched for shelter. The kobolds were reluctant to house the party in their territory but pointed the party in the direction of a nearby cave which they believed to be unoccupied. Unfortunately, it wasn't, but the party dealt with the wildlife that got in their way. 

    The rest of the night was quiet, save for the howling of the wind outside the cave. As the party was preparing to continue their journey, however, they noticed a figure emerging from the snowstorm outside of the cave. He introduced himself as "The Voice of the Mountain" and made a proposal: stay out of Kyldaross's affairs and convince his wayward son to return home, and the party would have safe passage through the mountains.

    The party was naturally reluctant to accept β€” Onyx particularly β€” but eventually Peter took the token which would cement their agreement and secure the party's passage. 

    The token quickly proved its use, as it allowed Peter to communicate and negotiate with another rime wyvern to let the party pass through a ravine that it was guarding. 

  • Session 20

    The party continued its march towards Onyx's village. Along the way, they encountered a trio of goliaths attempting to reclaim a shrine from corrupted ice. The party decided not to intervene, for fear of earning Kyldaross's ire, and continued on their way after an attempt to dissuade the goliaths.

    The goliaths, too, stayed their course, but in their attempts to clear their shrine they unleashed a frost elemental which quickly overwhelmed them. The party reluctantly continued on, leaving the goliaths to their fate. 

    The party finally reached Onyx's village β€” taking some lost coastal folk refugees that they had found along the way with them β€” and immediately sought an audience with the elders. The elders, unfortunately, did not have any good news to share about Crush; he had attacked his fellow tribe members and fled into the blizzard, never to be found again.

Chapter 4: The Hand that Feeds

After helping the people of the Svelagr Mountain Range break the Chilling Terror's stranglehold once and for all, the party sets its sights on new adventures.

Chapter 5: What Lies Below

The party spends some time in Ordzina, the jewel of the nation of Irkasy. But not all is well in the City of Light...
