Shadowfell, called the Ashlands, is a continent located east of Yekare. In the First Age and Second Age it was the center of the World Continent Mehan and contained the center of Beldkind civilization.
Like the Feywilds, the Shadowfell is shrouded in fog. However, unlike the Feywilds the fog never randomly allows ships to land at its shores. To enter or leave the Shadowfell requires the utilization of arcane sorceries known only to the Veiled Ones.
The landscape of the Shadowfell is inhospitable, dangerous, and bleak. Blasted by ancient and powerful sorcery and scarred from the wars fought in its borders, the Shadowfell is a wasteland. The Sun itself takes on a sinister aspect, appearing black in the sky. There are frequent lightning storms, sandstorms, and cyclones, but it never rains. The air is also dangerous to breathe, rife with diseases, ash, dust, and smoke. However, the Veiled Ones are able to breathe the deadly air with no issues, while non-natives must wear multiple layers of cloth over their faces at all times.
Colors are dulled here, often taking on shades of gray as they remain longer. The land is always bitterly cold, but there is no snow, only jagged rocks and blasted craters. Scattered across the bleak landscape are ancient Mannic ruins, which hold silent vigil over the gloomy land.
The plants of the Shadowfell have are not found anywhere else in the world. Silvergrass covers much of the landscape and Silvervine creeps up many of the structures. The most common flowering plant is the Starbud. In the north, trees known as Bloodwood grow in great abundance.
The Shadowlands can be roughly divided into two great regions. The northern Black Wastes are a vast desert of ash and rock, nearly inhospitable. The southern Silver Lands are more hospitable, dominated by various silvery plants and home to the only inhabited cities on the continent: Pashayos and Marqhabash.

Currently, the largest expedition to Shadowfell is the International Survey Fleet.
