The Somber Market refers to a thirty-day period which occurs every seventeen years where hundreds of Shadowships of the Veiled Ones set off from Pashayos and sail to certain cities around the world to trade wares. They only go to specific cities, and only stay for exactly thirty days, docking on the first of Gol and setting off on the first of Abi without fail. In the cities where the ships dock, their coming is heralded as a great event with celebrations, feasts, games, tournaments, and more. To be chosen by the Veiled Ones to host the Somber Market is seen as a great honor by the cities who do.
