The Mother's Crusade was a holy war fought by the Motherlands against Gulkysten for control over the Sacred Vale and Mother's Mountain. As a means of placating his new vassals in the Motherlands and demonstrating his right to rule over them, Pelegon I gave the approval and support to a campaign to claim the Sacred Vale. Scholars claim that, while the Kingdom of the Motherlands may have officially began when Winifrith II was crowned Queen of the Motherlands, it really began in V 10 when the Sacred Vale was conquered. After the Crusade, the lands of the Sacred Vale were granted to the newly raised House Sayn.
