Falcon's Ascent

The Falcon's Ascent was a legal doctrine established by Shahanshah Pelgos I Pelegon that gave him control over the successions of houses in the Imperium.

Under the laws of the ascent, the successions of noble houses were subject to approval by their liege lords in a chain of command that eventually reached the Golden Falcon Throne. This gave the Shahanshah the ability to deny the succession of any house who defied them. The Ascent was hardly invoked but served as a clear symbol of the rising power of the Golden Falcon Throne in the early Imperium and a means of keeping the Imperium's houses in line. Following the Years of Blood and Iron, Shahanshah Pelegon V Pelegon abolished the Ascent as part of the reforms his uncle Abbos Pelegon had promised many of the great houses of the Imperium in exchange for their support.
