The Kald River's second greatest tributary. It rises near Mount Tezith, feeds and drains Lake Arain [L4], and flows southwest to join with the Kald below Tashal. The Nephen is crossed by the Naniom Bridge [K5] and the Ternua Bridge. The Silver Way follows the river for part of its course. Azadmere once had a barony, Axxon, south of the Nephen River, but it was abandoned in 142 after years of repeated Gargun attacks. King Hazmadul III considers restoration of Axxon as critical to reducing Azadmere’s need to import grain. He has said he will grant the fief to whoever can recapture the Fana mines, then clear and hold the surface land for seven productive years.
