The Saga of Ankle Biter - Yeti's in the Snows (pt 1)

Session

Razeesh "Ankle Biter" entered the town of Bryn Shander, most famous town in the Ten-towns. Following her well honed instincts for epic adventures she made her way to The Northlook, a well known inn and like all inns a hot bed of rumour, excitement and interesting people. The reader might have heard about its famed fish that hangs, and sings, above the fireplace. It was very very busy so Scramsax made her go to an empty table instead of getting a drink at the bar which she could definitely reach if she wanted to. Soon she was joined by the 3 great adventurers who would accompany her for the journey to come.

The first that arrived was Raima, a well known human warrior of the Ten-towns, with a mysterious past. Razeesh thought she was shy, but could tell straight away that she was a strong fighter but not as strong as Razeesh. Second to arrive was Rogan Helstorm, a shaman so great that he could control and talk to his pet Hawk Echo like it was part of him. Last but not least was the Cat lady Hidden Rock, a bard from far far away in a hot land with many trees and heavy rain. Hidden Rock had travelled to Bryn Shander in search of new stories to bring back to her people. Soon they found out that fate had brought them together as they all sought adventure.

Hlin Trollbane, a retired bounty hunter who despite having proven her great strength many times still hunted new opportunities for greatness, approached Razeesh and her newfound companions and told them about a wicked man who'd been killing people throughout the Ten-towns. She told them of the victims: A dwarf glassblower in Bryn Shander, a Halfling trapper in Easthaven, and a Human ship builder in Targos. They seemed to be ceremonial, maybe related to the god Auril, as they had been killed with knives of ice in towns that did the sacrifice of The Frost Maiden (whatever that is). Worst of all they weren't facing them like a true warrior, strength against strength, but instead attacked sneakily like a fox. They weren't given a chance to fight honourably for their lives. Hlin Trollbane told them that she'd been following a suspicious man called Sephek Kaltro who she'd seen at each location when the killings happened.

After Hlin Trollbane had bought them all food and drink for taking on the hunt for the killer, the shaman Rogan Helstorm said that he'd spotted an ambush by 3 bandits by the rooms to the inn through his Hawk eyes. Deciding that to test the strength of these would be ambushers, the courageous companions headed out to test the trap. They weren't strong at all, and Razeesh with her companions defeated them as easily as a bear kills fish. The battle started with Razeesh "Ankle Biter" burying a thrown axe in the bandits head as Raima swung down from the top of the building and cracking another's skull. The last went down quickly after, and was left him alive to find out what they were looking for. The bandit, as already shown by his cowardly ambush, was too weak to withstand their questions. For some reason someone paid him to take Rogan Helstorm's amulet, though neither the bandit or Rogan Helstorm knew why. Not wanting to get involved with the local rules, they gave him to Scramsax to deal with, who set him to work for his crimes.

In the morning another adventure landed in front of our brave adventurers, as they prepared to leave to hunt down Sephek Kaltro 3 Dwarves crashed through the entrance to The Northlook. They'd been on their way to Bryn Shander to trade iron when a yeti attacked them! Their leader says that the iron is important to keeping Bryn Shander safe, and that the last of the dwarves was left behind when they were attacked. It was quickly decided that if there was any chance were going to save the last dwarf from the yeti we'd have to leave immediately. A few hours after we they left Bryn Shander a great blizzard struck. Razeesh "Ankle Biter", a master of surviving the harsh weather of the Icewind Dale, quickly spotted the danger and set about making a camp to last out the storm. Razeesh "Ankle Biter" was wise as well as strong, and only fools take on a blizzard this far north.

After the storm passed they continued their trek towards where they'd heard the sled had been lost. As they crested a ridge, a gruesome sight was revealed. The missing dwarf was torn to pieces and scattered amongst the deep snow, and where the sled should've been instead they found only tracks. As there'd just been a blizzard, it was evident that the sled must have been taken recently and so Razeesh and her brave companions headed out to find who - or what - had taken it.
