The Saga of Razeesh Anklebiter - Man or Beast 3: A Deadly Climb

Razeesh and her companions then searched the passage to the right of the entrance, which lead to another lookout and a trapdoor. Razeesh's kitty went to scout the tunnel while the rest of the companions held the rear in case any more of the coward dwarves were still around. Not long after the kitty prowled off Raima spotted one with a crossbow and they leapt into action. Raima and Razeesh rushed forward immediately, while Rogan sent word to Rock that we they were under attack. Weak, and cowardly, the dwarf retreated from Razeesh "Ankle Biter" and Raima's obvious might while trying to hit them, but its aim was shook with fear. Kitty caught up fast, bounding into action, just as the weak dwarf retreated behind an arch as another dwarf appeared to activate some kind of device that lowered a barred door separating Razeesh and Rogan from the fight. This was not enough to stop them however, as shaman devilry and javelins showered through the door, while Rock and Raima fought them off up close and before too long the companions were victorious once more! With the last of the cowardly dwarves dealt with, it didn't take Razeesh and her companions to find the stolen goods, their instincts proved correct again that it was these dwarves that had been stealing from Caer-Konig.

The companions returned to the room with prisoners who had some kind of disease. Razeesh, with the wisdom of the Ulthgar, said that they should be left till we can tell the nearest healers about them, but her stone-sick companions tried to free them. Apparently some kind of madness had infected them, and they attacked their would be rescuers. It was over quickly, but not before Razeesh and Raima had taken some wounds. The cuts were shallow, but seemed to be infected with the same thing that had infected the prisoners. The companions took a short break to deal with wrap some wounds and rest before they continued to the first camp of the adventurers they were following, and then continued on their way.

Jarthra led them on the simple journey to the first base camp, and what they found spoke of ill fortune for the adventurers they were searching for. Their sled was flipped over, and the rest of the dogs were trapped. Still attached to their sled, they couldn't get to water other than that in the snow and no food other than the bits they could reach that had been on the sled. We rescued the dogs and got them access to food, then used one of them to track its master to see what had happened to the rest of the adventurers. With the mess they found, they decided to push onward despite their exhaustion as time might be against whichever adventurers still lived.

After the basecamp the climb became a lot more dangerous, and the companions had to traverse narrow ledges and dodge avalanches as they climbed ever upward. Eventually the dog got wind of his master, and we rushed forward to find a barely conscious human lying in the snow. As Kitty did what she could for him, we suddenly found ourselves ambushed. Two Crag Cats, cunning predators of the snows, had snuck up the brave companions using their white fur to be hard to see. It had been a long day, and Razeesh "Ankle Biter" and her brave companions were plenty tired. Despite that they fought on, despite the vicious attacks of the Crag Cats and their own tiredness. With each of them bleeding heavily from multiple bites and cuts from their long day, finally one of the beasts fell, and now badly outnumbered the other fled into the snows.

Talking to Garett, the master of dogs, it seems that the adventurers had been attacked further up the mountain by yetis. Garett tried to lead the yetis away back down the mountain, and eventually fell in the snow. He wasn't able to say what had happened to the rest of the party, but they hadn't come back down for him so he was worried. They were apparently about as far now from the next camp as they were from the first, so the party decided to press on to the next before resting. Razeesh, familiar with the ways of the mountain, knew that as long as they stayed far from the caves they should be safe from the Yeti's that attacked the party. With a little luck, the companions and Garrett arrived at the next camp before the frosts arrived.
