The Saga of Razeesh Anklebiter - Man or Beast 2 Under the mountain

Session

Razeesh woke up to find that all her companions had survived the cowardly dwarf ambush. The fighters in Caer-Dineval were apparently hunting these "Duergar", though Razeesh thought that they couldn't be doing it very well as they had more than Razeesh could count hiding in their camp. While Razeesh was recovering it seemed that her companions had agreed to help hunt down these Duergar throughout the Ten Towns. First though, Razeesh insisted that we continue looking for the adventurers who'd gone to Caer-Konig as they were in imminent danger.

The brave heroes continued their journey to Caer-Konig, where the adventurers had visited Frozenfar Expeditions before they went hunting for the transforming Goliath on the Mountain. Their first trial was when they reached the edge of the camp, where a guard tried to shake Razeesh down for her food. Razeesh was too smart to fall for his tricks, and Rock impressed him with stories of Razeesh's great victories till he let her through. He then told us of the local tavern, and of some of the shops including Frozenfar Expeditions. They were also told of the Hook Line and Sinker that offered free drinks to travellers, which sounded good, but Raima said it wasn't very good but Razeesh isn't sure Raima likes fun so I Razeesh will have to try it herself later.

On their way to the tavern to make a base for themselves in Caer-Konig, the chief of the camp ambushed our heroes. He'd been drinking his courage and thought they were the thieves that had been troubling his people. It turned out that Trovus was a famed hero of his people before he became the chief, and recognising Razeesh's rising star recruited her to help him with the cunning thieves raiding his people. The main victims so far had been - Northern Lights, the local tavern that had their colour changing lantern stolen, the Hook Line and Sinker who lost a pair of goats, and Frozenfar Expeditions had lost pearls that had been carved into beads.

They first went to the Northern Lights with the old hero Trovus, where they got some breakfast and learned more about the theft. It was recent enough that there were still tracks behind the tavern for us to follow, though the tracks became too hard to see once out of the town. At Frozenfar Expeditions, there wasn't much to find out about the theft but they did know where the adventurers we'd come to find had set up camp. Through cunning negotiation we agreed to return their beads in exchange for being guided up the mountain by Jarthra Farzassh, even though the heroes were going to find these stolen things anyway. Deciding that there wasn't much left to do in town our heroes decided to head out to the base of the mountain.

While travelling to the base camp Razeesh and Jarthra picked up the tracks from the thieves again. The tracks were difficult to follow in the snow, so Razeesh had to use all her skill and experience to follow the trail. After hours of sniffing out these cowardly thieves the companions came upon a secret camp, nestled into the base of the mountain like a bears den. As they crept towards the secret camp, they came across another trial. The entrance to the keep was protected by a watch post, and the cowards had somehow made it with no way in. Unable to fight her enemies face on, Razeesh was forced to admit that we had to skulk like a wolf around it to the entrance. Razeesh could do that obviously, but she didn't like enemies she couldn't face. Rock, who is a cat, used her natural cat like sneakiness to find a route to the entrance of the camp that let us avoid this watch post. Rock's prowling let Razeesh reach the heavy rock door to the camp which she pushed open with ease.

Inside they found a bridge that crossed a narrow crevice, and a small area with 3 cages. One of the cages held an undead Ogre, that seemed partly tamed. From the trail they followed it looked like the thieves used the beast to carry their hauls. We decided to stab it through the cage in case the thieves tried to loose it on us later. They were clearly cowards who'd think nothing of using their pet rather than fight us themselves. Down a passage to the left of the door we found an empty lookout room, with small rooms for captives around the sides of the room. The captives all looked really sick, Razeesh kept her distance as she didn't need another reason to find a healing shaman. Finally around a corner, we found our thieves. It was more of the coward dwarves, which Razeesh had suspected. The companions wasted no time with Raima and Razeesh charging it down the passage way while Rock and Rogan providing support. While Razeesh "Ankle Biter" and Raima fought the first of the dwarves, another came from behind to attack Rock and Rogan. A weird arrow sprouted from the dwarf in front of Razeesh, shot by Rock, and Razeesh fell back to deal with the other dwarf. This one tried to use tricks to defeat Razeesh, like the ones from the ambush it went invisible, but she knew their tricks now and they wouldn't work on her again! It managed to only give her a few cuts, as Razeesh chopped it to pieces with her axes. It died knowing it was no match for Razeesh's might.
