A being created from a mortal child and an angel of Ira. Lucidity was created for the sole purpose of opposing the Demon Lord Marionesse. For millennia he served his duty, striking Marionesse down and fighting to his last breath to curb their power. Time, however, seems to have made Lucidity grow lax.
"Luceran Sarvin" remained a distant figure to Liutubang. The adoptive grandfather of Foes Quillspring, he communicated only through letters. Luceran frequently discouraged Foes from pursuing the subject of The Puzzle Box. He also claimed that he was unable to come see Foes to talk, only asking for his trust and that he not chase danger.
Luceran briefly appeared as the subject of a dream, acting as a guide to help Foes escape the influence of demons in the Lau Estate. Unlike the other guides, Luceran demonstrated a strange lucidity, his already somewhat meta awareness of the situation evolving to full self-awareness. He seemed panicked before the dream ended.
Not long after this event, Luceran was present in Límíng City. Liutubang witnessed him in the fight with an ancient corruption demon. He was successful, but exhausted by the fight. Upon seeing the party and coming to greet them, he was shocked to see Foes there, and terrified to realize that Marionesse was present in the form of Loveless' sword -- a broken fragment of his own blade.
Here, he was revealed to be Lucidity. He pursued Marionesse into the Astral Plane and has only been seen briefly in a dream with Loveless since.
Lucidity was created to be the opponent of Manipulation. He spent four thousand years locked in combat with Marionesse, a constant cycle of battling and killing one another in order to prevent the advancement of Marionesse into the Material Plane. However, at some point in more recent history, Lucidity appears to have abandoned his post. He found and raised Miradan Ruinseeker, and later found and adopted as a grandparent the child that would be named Foes.
After sending a postcard with chamomile to Foes, Foes mentioned some small details about Luceran. That Foes believes he is a herbalist, that he wanders "somewhere to the north" and that he tells stories to Foes.
Supposedly, he found his child, Miradan Ruinseeker, in a bush when they were a teenager. This is why he then placed Foes in a bush after having "obtained" him somewhere as a newborn.
