Nam Eun-Ae
Description
A senior member of the Jihui Sect. She is mother to the twins Nam Yoo-Jun and Nam Jung-Won.
Eun-Ae is expected to become the head of the Ghostslayers within the Jihui Sect. As such, she holds a contact with Tianshe, The Collector, a powerful spirit who guards a gate to Spirit Realm that the Jihui may use at will.
Prior to joining the Jihui, she was instead apart of the Jeonghwa sect.
Eun-Ae has a loose and casual personality, treating even her daughters with a playful demeanor. Despite this, she takes her responsibilities seriously, and has sacrificed her old life and ideals for the love of her daughters.
Within the Campaign
Liutubang first met Eun-Ae in the Spirit Realm during The Ghost Festival, while she was escorting Yoo-Jun. She helped the party navigate back to the material plane, explaining the identity of Tianshe and how to appease her. Eun-Ae demonstrated Tianshe's power in delivering a song that was then dragged from the witness' memories.
Eun-Ae recognized Cheon Do-Yun as the son of Cheon Yeong-Suk. She has since taken him under her wing, welcoming him into the family and teaching him some param-in traditions and recipes. She has provided some guidance to the rest of Liutubang as well, especially in the sense of operating as a sect.
Eun-Ae would escort Liutubang on a field trip into the Spirit Realm. During this time, she was targeted by Unknown who attempted to instigate a lethal deviation. Liutubang was able to stabilize her condition and bring her back home to recieve medical care.
History
Eun-Ae grew up in the Jeonghwa Sect. She was taught to despise and fear spirits, and trained in how to eliminate them. Her best friend in the sect was Yeong-Suk, whom she had a crush on in her youth. She also described an initial hatred of Takeda Kichiro, both for his identity as a half-spirit and for his relationship with Yeong-Suk, though she states now in retrospect it was likely she had attraction to them both.
Eun-Ae remained in the sect when Yeong-Suk departed with Kichiro. She stayed until her children were born. While pregnant, Eun-Ae's partner was possessed by a river spirit named Chaolak. He attempted to kill her, leading Eun-Ae to eliminating him.
Yoo-Jun was born possessed by that same spirit, harboring it within her own body. Jeonghwa pushed Eun-Ae to abandon or kill Yoo-Jun, or undergo the dangerous purification rituals that might exorcise this spirit. Instead, Eun-Ae took both of her daughters and fled to the Jihui Sect. Initially, she sought help in safely removing the possession. She instead found a sect far different from what she had been taught and decided to stay, raising her children safely to accept and cope with Yoo-Jun's possession.
Since joining, Eun-Ae rose in the ranks. Her expertise in fighting spirits made her an asset to the Ghostslayers. Today, Eun-Ae is the second-in-command, set to become the head of the Ghostslayers. She has adopted one of the village's young children to help raise him as well.
