The Europäische Gemeinschaften (in English, the European Community), usually shortened to the Euro-Gemein, is a supranational organisation headquartered in Berlin, whose members are non-communist European states. It contains four main associations: the European Steel and Coal Community (which promotes industrialisation and facilitates trade), the European Atomic Energy Community (which regulates nuclear energy and the usage of fissile materials), the European Economic Community (which facilitates all forms of trade and finances between EG members) and the European Defence Command (successor to the World War II Stahlpakt). Most of its members are also part of NATO. Some of its most radical supporters within Germany and abroad speak of a possible European Federation, though these dreams are still quite far off.
