House Sylnaerith (sil-NAY-rith) is one of Illhad'or's ancestral houses. It once governed over the southwestern mountains of Illhad'or. Its members were renowned blacksmiths and manufacturers.
The House Premier holds the moonblade Desimidras.
History
House Sylnaerith was one of the nine founding houses of Illhad'or. The house reached its greatest prominence through an early alliance with House Sindelain, allowing for the empire's consolidated military force.
Dissolution
The House was dissolved around 150 years ago with the death of its Premier, Aerenael, as no surviving heir was capable of wielding Desimidras. The moonblade disappeared from the public eye and was presumed to be somewhere in the holdings of Lacoraethiel's estate.
Resurgence
In 1346, during the lead-up to the attempted coup by House Sindelain, Rauli discovered Desimidras beneath the Museum of Arcane History and surrendered the weapon to Aurumvorax, who gave it to Jo Sylnaerith, its rightful owner.
Jo revealed that Desimidras had chosen her as its wielder during a public duel against Lacoraethiel (although this turned out to be a Simulacrum rather than the man himself) and announced that she would be reinstating the House under her terms.
Society
House Sylnaerith was once a house of fearsome, well-respected artisans. Many were trained fighters themselves, and as the House was quite wealthy, Sylnaeriths often had an interest in art, music, and philosophy.
Relationships
During the Morindal Dynasty, House Sylnaerith was a known ally of House SIndelain.
House Sylnaerith once kept up an informal alliance with House Nistaleth.
Since the House's resurgence, it maintains a favorable relationship with House Alvaenis and House Athyelan.
