Bastilla

Bastilla was born in the town of Innishmore to a demon and a wandering vagrant. They were left to the whims of the hospital where they were born, and taken from there to the church. They hadn't known their true nature yet, and given time they would come to learn quickly. As fate would have it, a member of the Slingers caught on before the church did and adopted them immediately. they spent the better part of their life learning about their nature, spending time with the mages ad growing up with them. When she finally came of age, they decided to go to college. Though it was a risk, they wanted to try and bring some good from their origin despite the temptations they'd come to face. They wanted to be a Slinger, a true mage of the order and to help them with their cause. But a small part of them wanted to be normal for a change, and perhaps they'd find both in the mundane world they'd soon arrive in.


Shortish hair, bookish glasses, Bastilla appears an unassuming individual with their head in the books. A single streak of white, braided hair is kept tucked on to one side with hazel eyes gazing usually downwards. their finger nails are painted black with some tattoos lining their forearms, ravens for the most part. They usually wears a buttoned up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, keeping to themselves and avoiding eye contact with most.

Magic

Fire Magic
  • Flame Tongue: Bastilla is able to conjure a number of fiery weapons to use as projectiles. More commonly this takes the form of a whip. When you succeed on an attack roll with this skill, the target is on fire, taking an additional injury once per minute unless they can extinguish it.
  • Will of the Chaos Flame: An ashy explosion of soot and embers. Those within the radius are assaulted with stinging skin and burning eyes. Your margin of success is the radius of the explosion in yards. Those within need to roll dodge. On a success, they manage to move out of the area in time to not get hurt, and don't take an injury (though they should still flavor their character as having a bit of minor stinging and burning). On a fail, they take an injury and are blinded for five seconds or until they use their action to rub their eyes.
Earth Magic
  • Judicator's Enforcement: Walls, Barriers, and other physical obstacles formed from the earth around Bastilla.
  • Gravitational Denial: Bastilla is able to lift loose rock and other debris, either as projectiles or as stepping stones to vertical heights for themselves or others. A person can walk across stepping stones with a successful Balance check. When you succeed on an attack roll with with a stone hurled as a projectile, the target takes an additional injury.
Combined Magic
  • Punish the Pursuer: A molten shield forms in front of Bastilla, guarding them from harm and warding off attack. This ability can be used as a defense roll. When you succeed on a roll to defend against a melee attack, the attacker takes 1 injury.
  • Seed of Chaos: On occasion, Bastilla can lose control of themselves, either through an anxious fit or in times of great duress. An area they deem to be the source of the anxiety or other stress becomes super heated, melting and becoming akin to lava. When Bastilla fails any combination of three Self Control, Keep Calm, or Bravery rolls within a scene, this ability activates.
  • Molten Tear: A globbule of magma, Bastilla can throw a variably sized chunk to ward off pursuers and block off entryways as the lava cools and hardens. When you succeed on an attack roll, the target gets sticky magma on them, taking -2 to do anything that requires speed. They can use their action to roll Strength or Escape to get the Magma off of them.

Other

  • Art is Service: Bastilla's DJ skills are not to be underestimated, nearly as good at it as they are with magic.
  • Mental Illness: Bastilla suffers from chronic Anxiety and has tendencies to seize up under pressure, especially so in combat. They are prone to anxiety attacks and fits of panic that can lead to a loss of self control.
  • Loner: Bastilla is a seeker of knowledge, magic, history, sciences, and they're a hell of a math whizz. During the day they work at a library mostly to study as they work and tend to keep to themselves. But they're always willing to teach or learn when asked or if they find something interesting they don't know about. It would take a lot of introverted courage and pacing before they're able to approach but they're capable of it. On the weekends, Bastilla DJ's at the Garden. While one would think being on stage would be petrifying to them, this space is one of the few places than can be themselves and explore their passion. On the side they play guitar, but that's a personal hobby they wouldn't expose to others. Bastilla is most certainly less so a shut in on the weekends, and keeps those two lives separate from one another for the most part.
