Shall old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind? Shall old acquaintance be forgot, and Auld Lang Syne!

Auld is an automaton, in the form of a 4'8" human-scale porcelain doll. Actually, she's the living breath of that doll, channeled through an ancient glamour to serve the needs of her masters. She is a craft, commissioned from the Slingers by the Lord Mayor of Tullach Port in the early 1800s for his daughter, to serve as a companion, for she was sickly. A number of forms were constructed, intended to be utilized as she aged, such that she had a constant companion. Knowing it would take the longest, construction on the adult form began first.

The little girl was gone not too long after she was completed. Knowing that her duty would never be realized, Auld spent the last days of her mistress's life pampering her. When she passed, the doll requested she be laid to rest beside her charge. Her creators didn't listen, and simply packed her away

She was discovered again in the 1990s, by a young Bradan, in a dark, forgotten space connected to the tower. He dragged her out, and put her together, hoping she could speak of the past. Instead, she offered to support her creators - and their successors - in any way possible.

Now, she's one of the The Garden of Simple Pleasures most popular Flowers. Her regular clientele know better than to question her unfailing youth - the Garden has far stranger features, than one woman who ages well.

Social Features

  • Cause - Remember the Past: Auld Lang Syne is a vehement defender of historical locations and artifacts. This extends to her own collection of Victorian items, but also to locations around Luachmar that she recalls from the past.
  • Compulsive Behavior - Maintenance: Auld takes great lengths to keep the Tower and Nightclub as tidy as she's able. She also deeply cleans her body after almost every client, taking long baths where she disassembles and reassembles herself.
  • Fetish - Lingerie: Auld is incredibly turned on by risque outfits, a reaction programmed into her by some Victorian pervert centuries before. She doesn't mind, especially when she gets to wear lingerie around other beautiful people wearing lingerie, and just... bask.
  • Squeeze - Deconstruct: Auld can deconstruct her body to fit into tight spaces, but she lacks mobility. Also, someone else needs to put her back together again.

Magic: Element Control

  • Earth Magic - Shape Ceramic: Auld has the ability to meld fragile ceramics, making them pliable in her hands and crafting unique forms. Similar to glassworking, she pulls the material like putty, which then hardens into a hard, brittle form. She can use this to join ceramics together, or to craft new parts for herself. If she ever needed to, she could use this ability to break down ceramics as well. This ability can heal or inflict 1 injury to anything made of ceramics (including herself, but limited to 1 HP/day of standard magical healing. Auld is still affected by standard magic healing as well.), made as an attack if the defender resists. She can also use it alongside regular crafting skills.

Backstory & Origin

Where are you from and what are you doing on the Isle of Luachmhar?
Auld Lang Syne was created by Sage Biggs, a member of the Slingers in the early 1800s. He's long dead, but wrote a number of works on enchantment - the last of which concerns the construction and maintenance of autonomous living objects. Only one copy exists, likely somewhere in one of the Island's libraries.

  • Bradan - The young Slinger who discovered Auld sealed in a crate. He took her in, experimented and studied her body, and taught him what he knew of the world since she had gone. Once she became a Flower, he saw her much more scarcely.

Other Info
Auld's favorite holiday is New Years, the only one she spent with her charge before she passed. She chose her name for many reasons - the song's ubiquity at the time being one of them. Another, is that it defines her - in her mind, she is a relic of the past, existing by the mercy of the Slingers in eternal servitude. Someone would have to try very hard to convince her otherwise.
