The Dragon Staff is a magical staff that was kept by the gold dragon, Aurinax, in the Vault of Dragons. Jarlaxle Baenre attempted to steal it, but it was instead stolen by Cerulean Alkatar, who hid it in an abandoned warehouse in Waterdeep. Bregan D'aerthe, the Zhentarim, Vajra Safahr, the Xanathar Guild, and Laeral Silverhand all attempted to find it. Cerulean, initially indecisive on who he wanted to give it to, ultimately gave its location to Jarlaxle. However, by the time the Bregan D'aethe lieutenants made it to the warehouse, it had already been taken by Unknown, Dragomir, Cherish Heiss, and Orna Ordan, on behalf of Vajra Safahr and Force Grey. The staff was handed over to Laeral Silverhand, and Jarlaxle's lieutenants, Fel'rekt Lafeen, Soluun Xibrindas, and Krebbyg Masq'il'yr, were arrested. Jarlaxle escaped by unknown means.
