Chapter 17: Investigating Darkmane

The next day after, the party rose to early to begin their investigations. Their plan was to split in two; Gan Jedi and Qalia Sugarfuel would investigate the Darkmane Mining offices more closely, while Zachariah Hallowhold and Kelrith Shalith would seek out a clue they learned from The House of the Outrunners -- the lodge of a group of tauren known as the Outrunners, and the closest Bloodhoof Village had to a fully established inn. It was where the party had been spending their nights so far.

For Gan and Qalia, alongside Qalia's succubus in the assumed form of Qalia's cousin, they managed to find a good opportunity to sneak ingo the Darkmane Mining building while none others were around to stop them. They rifled through desks and documents in search for any clues, and quickly made away with some rather interesting tidbits about plans to sell the guild's mining operations off. Exactly to whom, however, the documents seemed to be deliberately obfuscating.

For Zachariah and Kelrith, they were off to the Hall of Congregation -- a central, large tent and meeting spot in Bloodhoof Village -- in search for one Morin Cloudstalker. Cloudstalker was easy to find, and from him they learned that he and his fellow Outrunners had recently encountered a caravan of goblins some way east of Bloodhoof.

They only approached the goblin caravan to investigate, to learn  what their business were, but seemingly out of panic the caravaneering goblins attacked them. In the battle that ensued, the goblins drove their wagons down off a cliff and tried to flee, but the Outrunners dispatched of them.

It was clear that Morin had little interest in venturing back out there, so Kelrith and Zachariah offered that they could do so in his stead, for a reward. No reason for the Outrunner to say no to that.

The two departed from the Hall of Congregation, feeling as though they had a clear plan for what to do next. It was then that they ran into a peculiar figure; a rather stout-figured pandaren woman, who definitely seemed to have eavesdropped and were following the two, for whichever reasons she had.

Her identity was Jay Lin Qilan, though she introduced herself to the party under the pseudonym Madame Ji-Li. She spoke of herself as just a pandaren tea peddler, though some suspicions were lingering for whether she could be more. Especially considering her interest in helping the party out with the goblins Morin mentioned.

Once reconvened, the party set out on the way eastward. It took them most of the way to get there, and along the way Madame Ji-Li shared a slew of adventurous tales of her exploits in Pandaria, painting herself as a savour of the land as well as the bringer of tea she had described herself as. Kelrith joined in turn with a story particularly cloe to heart; of how he may himself had unwittingly played part in the plagued grain that was sent off to Stratholme.

It took the party until the next morning, a night spend camping in the wilds, to reach the site of the caravan that Morin Cloudstalker had described. When they got there, a small group of goblins were already busy picking at the pieces -- seemed like they were trying to salvage what they could, load it onto a kodo they had nearby, and then make their escape.

And when the goblins then noticed the party's presence, just as with Morin before, a fight ensued. The party had little trouble dispatching of them, though they did manage to get two to surrender; a loud-mouthed duo by the names Wammit and Slink. In exchange for not roughing the pair up any more, the party would bring them back to Bloodhoof Village and grill them for any information that could be had.

From that, as they made their back another night over to Bloodhoof Village, they learned that they and the other goblins were all members of Venture Co. They had 'acquired' a mining operation in eastern Mulgore from the tauren, and were now busy strip-mining the site barren under the heavy-handed leadership of one Vishaz Deadbomb.

This answered a whole lot of questions, but did not bode too well ...
