Chapter 19: Vishaz Deadbomb

Once the party had arrived at the mines, Jay Lin Qilan sent her jade raccoon familiar Belt up ahead to act as a distraction for a group of goblins who were still keeping guard at the first junction of the tunnel network. Probably there to ensure that The Foreman and boss Vishaz Deadbomb were not disturbed.

The three goblins all went running, chasing after the jade raccoon into an abandoned section of the mines where the goblins dared not follow after. This opened a golden opportunity for the party to sneak past and up ahead.

As they did so, they eventually made their way across a rail cart bridge and to an upper section of the mines that had a good vantage point to a large, cavernous space below. Down there, two goblins were caught in a heated argument in front of a towering, intimidating-looking machine. According to Qalia Sugarfuel, the machine looked to resemble some kind of souped-up Slagbot. The things usually were immensely expensive to operate, so clearly these goblins had to have some wild ambitions in mind.

As the party listened in closer, they could hear the two talk about their plan to bust a tunnel straight through to The Barrens, and  through there move minerals out of Mulgore without needing to worry about the tauren. In hopes to distract, Jay Lin conjured up an illusion of an evil dog atop the mine tracks overlooking the two goblins, the distraction occupying the pair long enough that Gan Jedi could draw his bow and assassinate the Foreman.

There was a remote clutched in the goblin's hands, and figuring it was the means to activate the robot, the party hoped they could deal with him and thus prevent him from springing trouble on them.

Unfortunately, however, as the Foreman fell dead and the remote dropped to the ground, it went off just as it shattered. Mere seconds later, the towering Slagbot sprung to life, and just the same did Boss Deadbomb reach for his own gun to deal with the party.

A brutal fight ensued, the party caught in a skirmish against both Deadomb and the massive Slagbot. Qalia Sugarfuel managed to keep a safe distance up high while Jay Lin and Kelrith Shalith rushed into close quarters with the goblin and the machine. Zachariah Hallowhold thought he had a safe stand atop one of the mine bridges, but an errant shell from Deadomb's gun saw the whole thing explode and collapse. Just barely in time for the priest to escape!

Eventually, and within an inch of succumbing totheir wounds, the party managed to take out both Deadomb and the Slagbot. Gan managed to lay Deadbomb flat with a death-grip to his throat, through which Bwonsamdi's powers coursed to steal the goblin's soul away.

It was only fortunate to them that the sounds of battle hadn't alerted any other goblins, such as the three they had encountered back at the mine entrance.

And seizing the chance while she had it, Jay-Lin made for what looked to be the Foreman's personal work space at the mining site. She dug through a slew of documents, swiped a solid handful of them, and took them with. That was what she had been looking for the entire time, though she was not too willing to indulge the party in exactly what it was or why she wanted it.

Now all the party had to worry about, was how to get back out again.
