Chapter 22: Eagletalon's Plan

As a surprising event that morning, in the House of the Outrunners, a familiar presence rejoined together with the party. Servius Felheart had just returned from Thunder Bluff with a caravan as dawn broke, and was keen to aid the party again in their adventures after his recent meetings with his fellow ambassadors. Introductions were quick, as Servius had not yet before met Qalia Sugarfuel.

Then they were off to the Hall of Congregation again, where they rendezvoused with Ruul Eagletalon, who seemed rather on edge but happy to meet the party again. They all got together at a private spot, a little table for them all to sit at, and then got to talking. Ruul delved deep into detail about what had happened last time he and his Braves had tried to challenge The Windfury Sisters -- as he and his Braves had taken to calling the witches leading the harpies. He told them about how they had marched on their lair, and how a magical fog ahd roleld in to impede their step before the harpies struck out of the shadows.

None of the spells rang much of a bell to Servius or Zachariah Hallowhold, but the harpies sounded like spellcasters to be reckoned with.

Gan Jedi propositioned that they could perhaps split their forces up; if Ruul and his Braves were to lay course directly toward the harpy lair, the party could travel early and take the long way around to Red Cloud Mesa. By the sound of things, they could easily find some kind of way around behind the harpy lair, and then from there signal to the Braves and make a two-pronged attack.

To this end, Ruul believed he knew someone who could help. At Red Cloud Mesa, by Camp Narache, there lived a shaman by the name Meela Dawnstrider. She was a close friend of Ruul, and apt at weaving enchantments that would allow for the party to contact him and his Braves when they were in position and ready to attack.

Zachariah decided to weave a Divination spell, to see what the future might hold. He the aftermath of a bloody battle, one that saw a speck of harpies routing from a sprawling ravine. The party decided to take this as a sign that their plan would work out well. All hopes were high for the future.

Later on, Ruul gathered together the braves near the Hall of Congregation. He delivered a rousing speech, laying clear the plan that had been hatched out by him and the party, which certainly seemed to bolster morale among them -- even if he himself seemed a bit shook still by what had happened last time he marched his Braves against the harpies.

The party would head out now soon, and all according to plan would sound the sign in five days, signalling for the Braves to attack.
