While they still had the chance, Yuma Stonehoof chose to ask if Unknown knew anything in detail of his village's old chieftain; the old tauren who had turned to dark shamanism, and since been driven away. In truth, few had heard much of him for some time, but as far as Maggran knew the shaman was still somewhere out there.
The party split ways after their meeting had ended. Zachariah Hallowhold made his way over to the Seers of An'she there in the same building, where he met its Elder Seer -- the venerable Shania Dawnwood. The two engaged in deep conversation, with stories of youth and of faith. Parallels were drawn between the priest's preachings of the Light and Shadow, and of the taurens' own reverence for the Sun and the Moon. Though it was clear she did view the forsaken as a potential threat, or at least feared her fellows might do so, she seemed somewhat supportive to what he was doing.
Servius Felheart and Gan Jedi made back for the tavern -- The Harpy-Hunter's Stop -- while Jung-Won Oxhide departed to check out what blacksmith services were available in the town. There she met the sharp-eyed, gray-haired Barshuk Heavyhammer, a man with much to do for the local garrison, though he tried to split his work between that and what was needed by the locals and by travellers with deep pockets.
As for Jung-Won's part, Barshuk was not too interested in haggling or being offering work favours, though he was willing to potentially offer some discounts if the party could help him acquire some supplies that were meant to have already arrived by caravans. Caravans that, for some reason, had been sorely delayed.
When the party then after reconvened at the Harpy-Hunter's Stop, they concluded their next step would be heading to the local garrison and ask there if its commander knew much. What they found at the garrison was a motley crew of local grunts, training dummies dressed up to resemble night elves, and warnings that the local commander could be a tough one to deal with -- though the grunts didn't have any qualms with helping the party get a meeting with him.
The commander was an orc named Unknown; knee-deep in paperwork and visibly sleep deprived from having still recently taken over the command post at the town. He told them that he was aware of the bandits along the roads, likely the same Grimtotem that the party had encountered, but the garrison was too busy patrolling Stonetalon's borders from night elves and from the rest of the Alliance. Something seemed rather amiss with the story, but the orc sounded fairly adamant about the necessity of it.
But the party managed to strike a deal; if they headed off to investigate the bandit situation and found a way to deal with it, they would be rewarded by the garrison upon their return.
As far as Krom'gar's reports could thell them, there was a troll camp named Malaka'jin not too far from where most of the ambushes had happened. Most reports about the events seemed to stem from there, so it made for a good place to start investigation.
